Brain Tumors More Common Than We Think?

i used to think brain tumors were some rare and horrible thing you were very unlucky to get and when somebody got one they got a movie of the week made about them. it doesn't seem so rare these days, which is fucking scary. last year my uncle Vic died from a brain tumor, and another family friend is dying from one. Johnny Cochrane today died from one and there somebody else famous i can't remember I read who has one.

um....... cellphones really aren't a good idea, nobody really knows yet the effects of long term usage of them. who knows in 20 years half the population might have brain tumors.

doh.......the other person was posted on this board today - Clive Maclean the legendary Hustler Barely Legal director died of a brain tumor today.

Ya, we are going to have legions of brain tumored kids down the road according to scientists.

"Researchers have speculated for more than 10 years that the electromagnetic radiation emitted from cell phones may damage DNA and cause benign brain tumors, said Henry Lai, a bioengineering professor at the University of Washington."

"When you use a cell phone, 70 to 80 percent of the energy emitted from the antenna is absorbed by the head, Lai said."

"He also said that because brain tumors usually take 30-40 years to develop, children who use cell phones from their teen years onward would have a longer period of time to see a cumulative impact."

I had a cab driver once make me stop talking on my phone after 2 minutes of being in the cab. claimed it causes cancer and the government was probably already tracking his cab from the time I spent on the phone.

My girlfriend had a brain tumour that no doctor could figure out the cause. She was on the cell phone at least 2 to 3 hours a day. Once she stopped, got treatment, naturepath at that, the tumour disappeared. Doctor's were stumped. She's got a big newspaper article about, because at the same time it was happening, she was competing in the Miss Canada Pagent.

To this day, since reading that article 3 years ago, I've used head sets. My blackberry I use with a Bluetooth headset.

There was a recent study, though I can't find the piece on how laptops are also contributing to an increased incidence of testicular cancer.

Let's hope that they can find a cure for this and other medical perils.
