Are your servers in SAFE MODE?

Our host tells us that WE REALLY NEED to have SAFE MODE on .. but then we can't create folders etc etc from our scripts, and that SUCKS

What do you think?

I'd like to add, that this if for our servers running pay sites on PHP and MySQL.
Gallery servers are a whole different thing IMO.

"Safe mode" is a a controversial PHP mode that some think is safer, and some think is not.

If a dedicated server, ask to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about, no reason to turn safe mode on.

If a shared server, its their call.

That smells just as much as a recently registered domain. Reminds me of programs that open under new names...

"Never heard of us before? Our name may be new, but we've been in the industry since 1996!" [no mention of their previous name ]

Safe Mode is a good thing. If you can't run safe mode you should use suPHP as a wrapper.
