She would not have the desire to live or die in a vegatative state. That's why we need to ask, is this something she would have wanted for herself when she had the ability to choose. Like most of us, she would have said she would prefer to die rather than have her body live like an empty shell of her former self. When we don't have a will or a written request from that person, we ask their spouse.

But I agree, starvation is not the means I would have wished for her. It's a pretty obscene method.

see but i think this is problem asking a spouse who has moved on with is life to make the decision means you can really never be sure if it is because she wanted to, or he wants it to be over.

If your right and she is in a vegatative state which can never be recovered from, she can't feel anything and therefore is completely unaware of her condition.

Which means it does not matter to her one way or the other weather she lives or dies.

If your wrong and some medical breakthru, or a "miracle" (read something that surprises the doctor) results in her comming out of the comma then starving her to death makes a huge difference.
