perhaps because of its size was the reason it didn't work too well.... might be worth testing out first.

I broadcasted from my house for a couple weeks and was umm...

Well just scolded basically.
I swore all kinds of profanities and people were getting it. I thought it was funny.

It was one of those situations as kid growing up where you realise that everything comes down to money. Breaking into FM signal's to over ride a conglomerates liscensed bradcast signal is a bad thing. Even when messing around but it helped me realise early on that essentially your a caged animal in society and the rules are set for you to lose at every corner.

This thing rocks, I can transmit mp3s to all the radios around my house from my laptop!

The FCC limits standard FM radio frequency transmitters to a very low power, so they are legal. Not supposed to interfere with commercial broadcasts though. "Mr. Microphone," a cheap heavily-TV-advertised toy from the 70s, was just a microphone with low-power transmitter. Great for pranks and passive aggression against shared-wall neighbors or people working outside with a radio blaring. Technically the content of the broadcast is still restricted as well, so saying "fuck" would be illegal even at low power, though the FCC doesn't have roving agents triangulating on every stray signal, and it would take a sustained/oft-repeated violation to attract their attention.
