Whats the best strategy: one really good site of hundreds of shitty sites?

The google "do one thing well" line makes me think.

Does this apply to adult?

I rather have 1000's of decent sites than 1 really good. I like to spread the love.

100, you say? well, I'd have to go with the 100 shitty ones.

But I'd take one good one over 25 shitty ones?

It is much easier to make 100 shitty sites than one really good one... I mean look at all the big paysite programs, 999 shitty sites none that are good.

well, don't settle for shitty. just make lots of nice little sites. it's real easy to get a site to 1 or 2K a day. and it's real easy (just time consuming) to do that over and over again. it's not easy (for most people) to make 1 site hit 100K.

if you have what it takes to make one site huge, that's the best approach, but you probably don't or you wouldn't be asking the question.

Yep, most of the big guys that have multiple sites have the same crap members area in all their sites... all they do is put up a fancy new tour.

selling porn is not like many other industries, meaning the selling point is all impulsive.. what you think is "good" may not mean shit all to the guy visiting the site. All you need is the proper content, design comes second. Once someone "links" himself to that particular content you are going to make a sale, regardless of the design. So 100 shitty sites are better then 1 really good site IMO.

For free sites, definitely more than one...

A few years back I put all my eggs into one fantastic basket and I ended up getting slightly screwed. Now, I prefer to have a few really good sites; I don't feel 100% safe with just one. Diversify

Very true, a lot of people can program, design and drive traffic. But have not got a clue what porn is.

I've seen webmasters come and go and fall off. Why? They spent so much time with bullshit sites they forgot one thing:

Quality.

Quality content, quality service, quality design, quality management.

I've known guys from the old AVS days who made umpteen gillion feeders and they died off. I see guys cryin' everyday about the 'good ol' days' and I have ONE fucking site that continues to grow each year. If I did an affiliate program I'ld be able to retire in 6 months.

Now that I'm getting on in years I'm thinking of dropping my site and working for one of the bigger sites/services with my site under them with a new name. Just produce funny toons. Plain and simple.

Gad I could go on with guys I know who talked big shit stupid and lost a million or two.

I'm lucky I met people early on who kept my head level and work with an AVS that provides full service no matter what, gets on my case if I goof up, and provides my surfers with what they want.

Also have pals who are specialists in various online areas. Many of them here on GFY too.

Wealth is great, but good health is greater. Doing quality work solves both those problems.

Well, there is a lot to be said for knowing your niche. Or is that scratching your niche? Anyway, I've seen hundreds and hundreds of bad sites but they still get hits, so I guess from a financial standpoint, lots of bad sites is better than one good one.

that is totally irrelevant, in your case you are completely different then other webmasters. All your content is exclusive, you draw your own cartoons, OBVIOUSLY you're not going to go out and make like 500 sites, what would be the point? Exclusive content isn't really an option for the majority, so that is why they go for more exposure rather then 1 big site. In your case I would of done the same thing, i'm not trying to start a fight but I think your position is totally different

You're right w0rstluk. I've said it before. Yes my content is exclusive. My overhead is so low I can't help but to make a profit. It's literally a cakewalk for me.

I started out doing my site as a protest AGAINST porn. Ironic ain't it?

Yet, I've learned alot more about business, trade etc. than I did in college.

Yet the basis of what I said is true. Whether you've got exclusive or not, if you focus on doing the best you can you can't go wrong. Keep your overhead low and listen to the pros. Remember Andy from Sexswap? He used ot have a weekly newsletter that was the best business newsletter I've ever read. Andy told us years ago to watch Legendary Lars because Lars knew what he was doing. He was right!

I've learned people get into this business for many reasons. Some just to pay off college bills, debts, even catastrophic medical bills. I've seen people who never used a computer before end up making a good 5 or 6 figure income and learned on the fly.

So for me, yes, it's easy. Very easy and if I was really into it I could take over in my niches and believe you me the temptation is there. Bottom line is I got a learning experience and learned not to be so fat-headed and bigotted myself. That doesn't take away from the basics though which are quality issues. Even if you don't have exclusive content it's how you present and promote that content that's going to be the trick for you.

I've said this over and over for the mom and pop webmaster: fight for that first 1,000 rebills. If you can make it to 500 or more rebills you can ride that for a good time and invest it wisely. Just think, one site, 1,000 rebills...sweeeet. If you're a small guy or gal and $10k a month is good for you you can use that loot against the political, pharmaceutical, and every other rip off industry so that you can get ahead. It's a fight for survival out here and the more loot you have the more ammo you have.

The latter for sure. Eliminates the single point of failure in your business model and you can target more microniched surfers in the latter.

100 shitty sites is still likely more work than 1 good one ...
but with 100 sites your odds of getting a juicy placement on Google improves dramatically .. so 1 of your shitty sites may become your #1 pretty quick.

I'm tired.
