50 afraid of dieing......

I am more afraid of losing my husband or kids .. That is a very scary thought.. I dont know how I would go on without every single one of them.

I am afraid I will be reincarnated as a turtle or something.

I am afraid of growing old.

The day the unit stops working is the day I need to move on to the next life.

I was just discussing this with a friend the other day. I am not looking forward to neither. I guess watching an 8 hour CSI marathon hasn't helped calm those fears any either.

I don't think it has to do with anything religious beliefs, I just don't want the good times to end...Sucks to know that it's all going to come to an end sooner or later...I just try to live as well as I can in the meantime. Damn you Cory, now I am freaked out again!! LOL ;)

I love the fact that you are honest. It really freaks me out as well.

i used to be soooo afraid of it. now i'm still afraid but not to the extent i used to be.

At this point in my life i am not afraid of dying at all. I think once i have a husband and a family i would be fearfull of leaving them too "early" or something. But i do believe that having spiritual/religous beliefs does calm the anxiety of dying. I do believe i will go to heaven and my spirit will continue while my "vehicle" or my body will just "die".

I have had two very close people die in the last five months and neither one of them were scared. Their soul or their being was very calm in the end and they actually were at peace with it. That too me comes from somewhere sacred and powerful,

Well let me just tell you that if I think about it long enough I can honestly make myself nauseaus (sp). I tell ya, I have to admire those that are not afraid of death, I am just not one of them. Fuck it, I don't wanna die! There better be the biggest Louis Vuitton, Channel, PRADA, Dior, Gucci et al., stores around, because I can't take this shit with me and no living creature deserves to have my stuff when I'm gone. Perhaps I will have it all burned with me if that's the route I choose to go!! LOLOL.

Few people 'want' to die Sherie. My whole outlook on this subject is, what is to be gained from sitting around being afraid of something that is going to come weather you want it to or not? Fretting and worrying and making yourself sick does nothing but waste the time you DO have left.

Better to live good full days now while you're healthy enough to do so, rather than wasting them with worry. Humans were born with the power of choice, so why not choose to enjoy your time and be happy about what you do have?

I am actually afraid of old age.After my last birthday dying does not rock me.You have to be always ready for it.

That's what I plan to do!! Live life to the fullest...I don't waste too much time thinking about it, I can't it's counter productive! So, with that being said, I am out of this thread lol.

I'm afraid of old age but not death. Being old, in pain, immobile, and at the mercy of others is something I don't want. Being at the mercy of others is like being a child again....powerless.

As far as death goes, I don't like it but I'm not afraid. I think of death the same way that I think about the millions of years before I was born. I didn't exist, nor did I know that I wanted to exist. I was nothingness for eternity until a few decades ago when I was born and I'll return to that when I die.

The only thing about death that I dislike is that I have to be that way forever (I think). I don't believe in a Heaven or Hell. I think that when you're dead you're nothing again and that's the way it's going to be for eternity without ever tasting life again. That saddens me, but doesn't frighten me.

No, I'm not sure you do. The only way that would be an inevitable situation is if I'm in some foreign prison or the like, and sentenced to death. It changes nothing, and being all afraid and crying and worrying about it changes nothing either, so yes, I would try to find some sort of enjoyment in my remaining days.

What exaxtly are you fishing for here? I suggest you read the serenity prayer some time, it brings what matters in life into focus. Fretting and worrying over things like death and taxes is useless and definitely time and energy well-wasted.

there is no reason to fear the inevitable. live every day as if it is your last. for it very well could be.

My only real genuine fear is outliving my kids.

How would you find out what happens after death if death is infact the end and you don't exist anymore ?

I'm not afraid of death itself, but rather the thought of my child, wife, or other friends/family and the discomfort they'd feel/experience...

when our trip on this cycle is done, it's done...those left behind are where the pain often resides :(

Death doesn't worry me in the slightest. I just don't want to be around when it gets me.

I'm afraid to death of growing old. I haven't been afraid to die since I was 15 or so. That isn't to say I've been cautious. Far from it, I've taken way more risks and done way crazier things than most could imagine. I just manage my risk to make it as safe as possible.

It's only when you are close to the possibility of death that you really feel alive. Skydiving, climbing bridges, abandoned buildings...

Well, either your soul will evaporate into nothing, thus proving his opinion right, or you will still have the power of thought thus proving the believers of afterlife right.

My point, for the post-mortemly challenged, is that no one can sit there and say with 100% certainty what happens when one dies.

The right thing to do here is to try to fucking respect the beliefs of others and try to refrain from passing off your own *opinion* as if it is iron-clad fact.

Where is this attitude coming from? From where I sit we're just having a discussion here. If you're not up to it just say so, no need to get all "hairy man" about it.

I'll ask again, what is it you're fishing for here? I get the feeling you want me to admit or say something, whereas I am having difficulty believing anyone would want to argue against my point that it is better to enjoy the days you do have rather than sit around being afraid of something that is inevitable for all of us.

As you get older you'll come to realize that once you accept your own mortality a good deal of stress is lifted off your shoulders. I'm guessing you're in your twenties right now, give it another 15 years and you'll begin to get it.

A slow agonizing death is a fear that I have.

babagirls, my uncle just died at age 58 from lung cancer, my aunt who is 44 will probably live the rest of her life alone (partnership wise) she still got the family and her kids but its deffiantly changed her. changed me too, probably the hardest thing i've ever did was his funeral

Hard to believe that I am a year older than my mother when she died. At the time she seemed old, and yet now I feel so young.
