Lord of the Rings: Not so great.

Just came from watching Lord of The Rings for 3 hours and 10 minutes.

It was ok overall. The beginning was too long and had too much talking. The end however SUCKED!!

The movie didnt finish. WTF? People were yelling, "where is the rest!?" You have to wait for the next 3 hour movie to see what happens

That's like forced voting! Now I am forced to see the next one to see what the fuck happens!!

That sux. I dunno what the hype is about!

God for bid you pick up a fucking book and read that to find out what happens.

Quit your bitching. The book ends even more abrupt.

The movie itself is 178 minutes long and justifiably so. The trailers were like an additional 15 minutes.

Spacedog that is the Prequel, the Sequels are

The Two Towers and The Return of the King

The reason for the lack of closure is that this is not over... You are going to have to think in broader terms and not like a five year old that needs instant gratification.

But like I said try picking up the books 15 pages a day for the next two months and you will have your closure.

People are not too bright in the adult industry it seems.

LOTR is probably *THE* book that jumpstarted the whole fantasy genre of.. well, everything.

All in all, it's a sweet piece of literature (of course, you have to be literate to enjoy it I suppose), that is always a fun read. I've gotten many of my friends to read it (all 4 books) and they all loved it.

The movie is an adaptation of the books, nothing more, nothing less. There are 3 lord of the rings books, and you just "saw" the first one. Why would it end? Hello?

If you saw the movie w/o reading the books you are completely missing out. Not to mention probably confused as hell over what all happened.

Ah well, people are stupid.

well i'm about to watch 208 minutes of the new release of Apocalypse Now

interested in seeing what Francis Ford Coppola really wanted as his finished picture

also enjoyed Pearl Harbor and that clocked in at around 3 hours

but then again, i could sit through Das Rheingold and it's a 16 hour opera

so if you have the attention span of a tsete fly i highly recommend Ritalin

Something that follows; a continuation.

A literary, dramatic, or cinematic work whose narrative continues that of a preexisting work.

A result or consequence. See Synonyms at effect.

I just watched "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" earlier this evening at last & there is only word to describe it: AWESOME! While I read "The Hobbit" & the entire "Lord of the Rings" (it's actually one big ass book but they broke into three books & hence the trilogy) many years ago, it was true to it. There was so much detail & work that went into this movie & it shows. When the movie ended, there were so many people that shouted "that's it?" that I almost bursted out into laughter. I also heard a small group of girls around 15 who said that "there are two more movies coming out just like the books." So it was nice to hear that some kids know about the books.

I do hope that those who never read the books will pick them up because they are great. Nothing can beat the imagination of one's mind!

Pearl Harbor? Really? That movie was, well, forgettable at best... It was basically an excuse to let Michael Bay blow up whatever the fuck he wanted (usually they have to invent stupid reasons, as in Armageddon).

it's not like Pearl Harbor is going into the annals of cinematic classics

take out the romantic element and visually i felt like i journeyed through a pretty fucked up event

and i love a director that's not afraid to blow shit up - real good

but don't mention that to Tom Green because i'm sure he would really "blow shit up"

that was funny...
that movie supposed to be a fantasy movie with lots of battles and stuff...
the first battle kind reminded me the game "Warcraft" so i thought there will be more fights like that 1...but there weren't...
the movie is fine...but they could have done much better

ahh right, so you wanted them to create a movie with MORE action, LESS talking and oh yeah Nothing like the book? Get Real Read the book and then you will understand the magic of the film. Seeing what you imagined come alive is brilliant, my only gripe is some of the special effects where a little poor apart from that defiently the best film of the year!

Do you disagree? If so what was the best film?

Im stupid??

Do you know what a sequel is? Scary Movie 2 was a sequel. And the first one ended! It didnt just have them walking and then the screen goes blank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't read the books because I hate books and English as a subject in school in general.

The movie did have great effects but if it will be 3 parts then it means that the movie will be about 10 hours in total. That's bullshit! A movie should be 3 hours max (THE WHOLE THING).

That's what I'm saying! I know that there will be a sequel but I didn't know that before hand ok? It didnt say anything like that after the movie was over!!

Star Wars has like 5 parts and each one has an ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZAHA your sooo funny:

"Do you know what a sequel is? Scary Movie 2 was a sequel. And the first one ended! It didnt just have them walking and then the screen goes blank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Well i expect Scary Movie is more your academic level.

"A movie should be 3 hours max (THE WHOLE THING)."

Because you say so? Is it a written rule? no so shut the fuck up.

Well duh! Did you want them to rewrite the book for the sake of lazy viewers? Gosh I can just imagine the backlash from the fans.

Next year is the second film in the triolgy rather than the sequel. Can't compare LOTR to Star Wars other than to say that if there wasn't a LOTR there wouldn't be a Star Wars.

I really liked the film. My husband who has read the text over and over loved it. He missed the couple bits that they took out but loved that there were left over visual treats for those who read The Hobbit..like the stone trolls.

Go back to watching Dumb and Dumber and leave the real cinema to the rest of us.

Its the end of a chapter in a long long story.

You know, as someone who loves film making and writing, sometimes I really hate Hollywood for dumbing down audiences to the point where they think scary movie is a proper film.
