I can't shake these damn hiccups..tried drinking water and I'm bloated,held my breath and I almost passed out

My old high school Bio teacher used to whip out a $100 every time someone would have the hiccups in class, and tell them if they did it again, he'd float em a crisp one. In 4 years, he never had to pay up.

anyways, you're not supposed to DRINK the water really, you're supposed to constantly SIP the water while regulating your breathing. its not water that cures it, its the gulping (which regualtes breathing normally again) thats the cure.

This remedy, reported in the medical journal Lancet, operates on the theory that sticking your fingers in your ears temporarily short-circuits the vagus nerve, which controls hiccuping. That, in turn, interrupts the hiccup cycle.

By the way apparently pulling on your tongue or triggering your gag reflex will also relax the vagus nerve causing it. I would go for the tongue pull since gaging is nasty.

I 'll wind up puking..I drank too much water ...that would be nasty puking and the hiccups at the same time..I'll stick to plugging my ears
