why would you want to have a porn site on an aussie extension? Just wondering, seeing as the laws here are very "anti web porn"

It's not a great domain, if that's what you're thinking.

You're better off with "shelikesmonsters.com" or the likes.

Check the laws people - the only thing about a porn site in Australia is that it can't be hosted here.

It doesn't matter if the domain name has a .au extension - as long as it's hosted outside of the country there isn't a problem with it.

And of course there is no law that says that .au domain names have to be hosted in Australia

Well I don't know about that but DD has been running with a .com.au name for years without any hassles.

However, you may have trouble actually registering a .com.au name because afaik the local registrar requires you to have a registered business name in the same name as the domain name you want to register.

Yea, danger dave's linklist has been one of the biggest for years......I doubt its any problem to have a .au domain if its hosted in the US.....

flashfire said let it expire thats what I would do

are you a tool flashfire ?? u must be

the domain is registered through namescout , and i have a registered business name, but dont need the trademark, i have the domain under other terms in the agreement. (btw which were accepted)

my whole question was whether to make the site a portal or a paysite, not about legal issues (which there arent any u fuckwits).

The domain name is useless
Might as well use realityporn as a subdomain

Ok, here's the low-down - keep the DNS and the hosting off shore.
If you don't, you *will* get owned. Australia has tight regulations, and it will most certainly be an open/shut case, in the favour of the other party.

I've spoken to the owner of teens.com.au, who actually set the precedent for the above 'offshore' ruling (thanks!) so contact him if you need more info.

As an incidental, if you're shooting content, it's entirely state dependant. QLD, for example, doesn't have much / any legal precedent for shooting content, especially of the X nature (as x is banned in QLD) - so if you're going to do it, make sure you have all your bases covered.

Well, seeing as your registered ACN (38981934948) doesn't actually exist, and that the only company resembling 'mortcom' is a business name registered in the state of Victoria, and you're in Brisbane, I'd say you do have a legal problem.

Anyhow. We're trying to help you, so there's no need to bitch at us.
We're all Brisbanites here :D

" my whole question was whether to make the site a portal or a paysite, not about legal issues (which there aren't any u fuckwits) "

My advise is to build a paysite on it, gay self fisting reality niche, and make your own content.

The problem with building adult sites on .au domains whether they are hosted in .au or or anywhere is a little thing called " undue attention " I own 100's of .com.au domains, most I brought back when a company name was needed for each, not one of them adult for very good reasons " undue attention "
