Look to see if there is a trademark for thirtysomething. That will be a clue. If there isn't, I'd hire an attorney when they come knocking. Of course you could hire one now and get an opinion. I'm not an attorney, but that was my opinion.

I can't see a problem. Thirtysomething is a common slang word. It's not like you registered seinfeld.tv or thesopranos.tv
Go with it. Fuck them. |

Windows is a common word too. So is New Technology (NT). Try using them and see what Microsoft would have to say. the .tv on thirtysomething could make a diff???? |

If you had windows.com and sold real windows etc, and not the OS, or another OS, or software at all, you'd be fine

Funny you mention windows. I sold my uPVC firm before getting into this biz. You're quite wrong. Windows is a common word and as long as your product is related to that common word (ie not pc software), you're fine. If I could have bought windows.net when I owned my firm, I would have - in a fucking heart beat! We used to ship our product to north america and canada, I would have done very nicely. From what I was told by a solicitor in the past, the domain is fine as long as it is a generic name from the dictionary, not a persons name or created brand name (like google), and your name and product do not attempt to give the surfer the impression of any affiliation with another name / product. |
