Why do people keep hitting me up to shoot reality content when they have a budget of $1000 or less per episode?

Get real.

Then there are the people who want solo girl sites but only want to spend 2 or 3 grand.

I pay solo girl models way more than that and you expect a years worth of updates?

Just because you see companies such as Lightspeed releasing hot teen sites and banking from them does not mean that you can do the same. It takes a lot of time and money to do these things and let's face it......The vast majority of you don't have the financial backing to afford it.

Yea 3g's isn't gonna do it on your first solo site unless you found a hot model to work for food and you can shoot it yourself. Seems like a reality scene shouldnt cost more than $1000 with an aveage girl. Maybe it only seems that way because I didn't try that one.....

I agree 100%. This was exactly the problem between me and BoB (ThinkX from DutchTeenCash). He was paying me and the model US$ 400 for 4 Series 50 Photos each (200 photos) and expected superprofessional quality. WTF, he should have contacted really professional people and pay them more. I and www.ipasak.com can only deliver amateur to semiprofessional quality. If you want better quality, please talk to people like AaronM who will deliver professional quality, but on a larger budget.

I do not shoot with umbrellas, but rather prefer to work with 3 550EX external canon flash guns, which can sometimes result in a strong source of light from one source, however, they keep me extremely portable, which is important for me.

i've learned to cut it short with them - i tell them up front it's not cheap and to find somebody else to shoot if they're not willing to go $2,000 on a boy/girl hardcore scene. The talent alone is $1200 - my shooter ain't working for peanuts and I'm not running a webmaster aid center.

And eventually my shooters will have paysites, but only if they find something that will knock people's socks off. Exclusive content doesn't mean quality content - it's exclusive crap in many cases.

Try bouncing the 550's off of umbrellas. You can get very light weight and portable stands for his and it can do wonders to even out your lighting.

I've use 580EX's like this and it's not a bad way to go.

Even though exclusive reality content is costly to produce, I've been lucky, business has been been busier than ever this year, and I don't sell on price. Hardly get any haggling on prices, really. Still, most people underestimate the amount of time it takes to do all the nit-picky post production- incl. editing, good trailers with graphics & music; re-sizing & color-correcting pics, watermarks, encoding the videos, cutting them up into pieces, scannng all the documentation, etc etc.

And of course, there's something to be said for the value of a good idea if the content producer had any input into that; and nice execution as well!

I have been looking at various portable stands. Mostly, I shoot in hotels and even now it it crazy to already carry around camera, 3 flash guns, camcorder, video lights, rechargers, etc. Even without the portable stands I can barely carry the stuff off the car trunk into the hotel, if I buy portable stands, I am gonna need a guy to help me carry the stuff. But I guess quality has its price

In an example above, Mutt said they pay the talent $1,200 per scene plus the photographer get their cut.

People want to pay $1000 or less for this stuff.

Seems to me that asking the producer to pull $200 plus the shooter costs out of their pocket is not very reasonable.

Maybe I'm looking at it all wrong though....I guess it's OOK too lose money in this business instead of making it.

You also need to take into account the fact that without a good number of episodes, the retention on reality sites suck.

Try doing a new site with less than a dozen episodes in place and new ones in the hopper for a minimum of an update every two weeks and you'll see how fast you can waste the money you spent getting just a few episodes to start with done.

I think most people assume that they will turn an immediate profit to fund additional shoots.
