Anyone got any webmaster blogs / sites they wanna trade links on ?

Houdini 03-06-2005 11:37 AM

Is it worth keeping comments open? I have one blog with a couple hundred hits a day and I turned on comments the other day to see what readers might say, but it was all spam. I use wordpress, so I can filter that before it's posted, but that causes me to moderate and I'd rather just write and not have to deal with that. Any comments about that? :Graucho

Turn off comments, way too many spammers.

For those looking for more information about Trackbacks, here is good reference. The document refers to MovableType, however the concept applies to all blogs.

Working on 3 more. 2 of which are going to be samples of my paysite's updates, really push for that sale!

I saw your other thread about trading links. I'd love to get in on it, but I'm so damn pussy whipped by the target=blank tag that I can't even imagine building sites that I want stickiness that let outside links go in the same window.... makes me shiver even thinking about it! For anyone who doesn't mind their link opening in a new window... I'm open for trades.

You would be better off with SE friendly permalinks

yours: http://www.pantygirldiary.com/panties/index.php?p=10 = not friendly

mine: http://www.whitecheech.com/index.php...d-likes-pussy/ = friendly

Wrong . . . comments bring activity, SE's love blogs that are active.

Wordpress has a feature where you can filter out spammers if it becomes a problem. Personally, have only had one guy spam once

Hmm, maybe i should re-enable them. I just noticed that as soon as the blog SE's and blog lists find you, comments just get turned to continual spam.

Thanks y'all.

just go to my blog, hit comments on any of them . . . you will see the trackback URL.

If you use Wordpress or Pmachine (or whatever the Kblogger program is) you will see a place on the "Write" page to insert the trackback URL of the entry you are commenting on

Is there really any evidence though that comments are helping you SE wise? The writing itself should be enough activity? I mean I guess everything can help, I just don't like the idea of having to monitor that. Maybe I will try it out again and see what happens.

People can and do make money with blogs. But you just can't throw up a piece of shit and start counting your chickens. You might get some SE traffic but if your blog SUCKS you won't get any bookmarks or return traffic. The blog should have the following:

(1) The blog should be about something. If you're just posting adds to porn sites, surfers will see right through it and split.

(2) You have to know how to write. (This probably eliminates 80% of people here). :)

(3) Don't use pop ups of any kind and don't make your blog into a banner farm. If you are all about making a quick buck from one time SE hits, surfers will see that and move on. Besides, most pop ups are blocked by ISPs these days.

You might also consider doing a non-adult blog. These things can make money too and there is no law that says you have to be 100% in the porn biz.

That is the thing that makes trackbacks the ultimate recip. It gives both of you activity. Much better than a hardlink

Cool blog. BTW, I noticed that one of your recent projects involved a surfer vbulletin board (which I won't post here because I don't wanna get banned). I have been seriously thinking about blogs and user forums as a source of BM traffic in the non-adult side of things and was wondering what your experience has been so far. Some of those vbulletin boards have a HUGE membership. If you have a network of these things like some people do, it can really add value to your online portfolio. Vbulletin forums (non-adult) with as little as 3,000 members have been sold for 5K or more.

69pornlinks 03-06-2005 12:37 PM

i'm using blogger(own domain) anybody using http://www.pivotlog.net/.
checking out wordpress also
and is there a reason not use blogger.

Well, the board is new, and we didn't set it up to sell it, we set it up as a medium to spam surfers with.

If we are effective it will bring in more than $5k :)

Didn't Google implement that no trackback?

Sorry for my ignorance POed-poster, but what does the BM in "BM traffic" stand for?

Thanks :)

So you're using it as an email gathering tool? Interesting idea. One thing you will need to watch out for is the hotlinking and password trading. Porn surfers who frequent adult forums usually do so for the purpose of pic trading and password trading. Here's the catch 22. If like some boards you let your surfers do anything they want, you'll likely piss off some webmasters. On the other hand, if you enforce rules too closely, the surfers will go away and be far less likely to remain on your mailing lists. (It they like the forums, they'll usually put up with a reasonable amount of spam).

BM traffic = Bookmark traffic, traffic you get from surfers who add your site to their favorites.

Hmmm... I guess that makes sense too

Blogmade traffic = Bookmark traffic = An asset on the balance sheet of your online business.

Sweet. :thumbsup

Thanks.

An asset, indeed. One the biggest mistakes we have made over the years in adult is to focus too much on one time hits. 'Build crappy sites', they told us, 'get that surfer over to your sponser as quickly as possible Don't let him use up all your BW'. While that philosophy does work, I really started making money when I started building sites that surfers wanted to come back to. We often forget that surfers who sign up to one porn site usually sign up to several over the years at different times. If he keeps coming back to your site, you can keep making money off him.

Adult Site Traffic 03-06-2005 01:37 PM

crap, Crap, CRAP :(

I knew that one :(

That's why I run BM scripts on all of my FPAs. Oh I wish I would have answered correctly the first time. LOL :1orglaugh
