How to prevent automated software from retrieving your email address from your site

How can you prevent automated software from retrieving your email address from your site? For example, on my site in my contact section I have a link like this [email protected] and people can click it to send me an email.

Is there anyway to prevent the spam softwares that retrieve email addresses from picking it up?

Whats a good solution out there?

JFP, I will definetly be hitting you up for the server/members area thing we talked about tomorow, and we can chat about this as well.

I would still like to hear about any other solutions that are out there, besides using a form

i dont collect emails of surfers. I just answering how to keep spiders off email links.

software cant grab my email because its embedded in the admin php file.

hmm im sure hotscripts might have something, email scripts are fairly simple in regards to the actual script.

Do as FletchXXX says or use an encoder:

http://www.wbwip.com/wbw/emailencoder.html

Quote:
On the visible web page:

"For more information, send email to [email protected]."

In the source code for the web page, the above should look like this:

"For more information, send email to <A HREF="mailto:

hahaha121;hahaha111;hahaha117;hahaha114;hahaha110; hahaha097;hahaha109;hahaha101;hahaha064;hahaha100; hahaha111;hahaha109;hahaha097;hahaha105;hahaha110; hahaha046;hahaha099;hahaha111;hahaha109;

You use a link to domainblabla.com/email
in this folder you put a htacess and foward to mailto:blabla.com
