Domain transfer taking 1 week ?

Ok, I bought a domain 1 week ago from someone, and requested the transfer from the seller's registrar to my registrar ( Dotster ) and the transfer takes already 1 week and when I check registrar transfer status in my Dotser management area, it shows

Quote:
REGREQSUCCESS: Our system successfully requested transfer of domain. Our systems must now wait for the registry to approve the transfer of the domain.
that's ok, i have done this several times, but it always took 2-4 days and now it takes already a week

anyone know what the reason can be?

With new ICANN rules, I'm pretty sure inter-registrar transfers are supposed to allow up to five days for the domain owner to oppose a transfer request. Some do not allow a domain owner to expedite the transfer request, the owner can only wait for the five days to pass without opposing it. And it seems like some registrars drag their feet a bit as well (maybe allowing five business days, rather than five actual days?) Also, if the domain was locked when you first submitted the request, some receiving registrars don't send the tranfer request until a day after a domain is unlocked. (Others reject the transfer immediately, depends on the registrar). Anyway, it sounds likely that you just need to sit tight another couple days. :-)
