I would love to see a woman or minority in the white house, but it won't happen in our lifetime. Too many poeple will vote against Hillary JUST BECAUSE she is a woman, as sad as that might be to say. Moreover, Hillary KNOWS this. She will be forever fameous if she wins the Democratic nomination. She would be the first woman to ever do so. But she will be clobbered in the general election, regardless of who the Republicans put up against her. She is a strong woman, which to most right wing conservative men (and women) means that she is a bitch. I'll say it again ... SHE CAN'T WIN.

If she really cared about the party, she would recognize this and NOT RUN. But she is too intent on becoming fameous and outdoing her husband to care.

Hillary running for president would be the best case scenerio for the republican party.

It is actually much simpler than that. She can't win because she is a STRONG woman. America is too conservative to accept a female leader. Far too many people in this country still think a woman's place is in the home. This prejudice is too much to overcome for any woman. SHE CAN'T WIN.

You have been misled. The democratic party is circling the drain. Its been happening for a long time. Ronald Reagan knew it!!!!

Dont call me stupid until you can tell me the core values held by the deomcratic party that has been successfull in the last 30 years of American History.

Name them. Hurry. Dont just call other people stupid because it makes you feel important. At some point in your life you are going to have to explain your thoughts and just stop repeating what you ahve been told to say.

Why do you think the democratic leaders tell you to hate fox news so bad? Its because they are telling people the stuff they want kept quite.

The right wing nuts, as they call them, have allowed fox news to beat every other station in the ratings.

You call them right wing nuts, we call them the majority of America

I didn't call you stupid, I pointed out that you are brainwashed. That isn't an opinion - it is a fact proved by your own posts. If you don't want to face the truth, then keep on copy and pasting other people's words. Thinking for yourself isn't for everyone.

You're calling him brain washed because you don't agree with him. So you're capable of making an informed decision but others can only be brainwashed?

I promise I'm more qualified to speak on politcs than he is.

If you notice he is claiming I'm brainwashed by using standard democrat responses he has heard over, over, over, and over again from the democrat party.

Wonder who is brainwashed?

The anonymous nature of the internet works to both our favor.

He can simply dismiss facts and claim intellectual superiority because play off the source of the information.

I can tell him facts while they are true, can seldom be spoken in a "politically correct" environment.

For some reason this whole thread reminds me of when Ainsley Hayes, a Republican lawyer joins the Democratic White House on "The West Wing", a show I sometimes watch a night.

AINSLEY
You think because I don't want to work here it's because I can get a better gig on Geraldo? Gosh, let's see if there could possibly be any other reason why I wouldn't want to work in this White House? This White House that feels that government is better for children than parents are. That looks at forty years of degrading and humiliating free lunches handed out in a spectacularly failed effort to level the playing field and says, 'Let's try forty more.' This White House that says of anyone that points that out to them, that they are cold and mean and racist, and then accuses Republicans of sing the politics of fear. This White House that loves the Bill of Rights, all of them - except the second one."

SAM
[getting steadily more emotional] But for a brilliant surgical team and two centimeters of a miracle, this guy's dead right now. From bullets fired from a gun bought legally. They bought guns, they loaded them, they drove from Wheeling to Rosslyn, and until they pulled the trigger they had yet to commit a crime. I am so off-the-charts tired of the gun lobby tossing around words like 'personal freedom' and no one calling 'em on it. [Josh moves away uncomfortably.] It's not about personal freedom, and it certainly has
nothing to do with public safety. It's just that some people like guns.

AINSLEY
Yes, they do. But you know what's more insidious than that? Your gun control position doesn't have anything to do with public safety, and it's certainly not about personal freedom. It's about you don't like people who do like guns. You don't like the people. Think about that, the next time you make a joke about the South.

Ainsley was hot. My favorite speech of hers was yelling at the woman who didn't like Sam calling Ainsley hot.

I haven't watched many episodes, I just catch it from time to time when I'm relaxing on the sofa. Yes she's hot.

It wasn't the biggest win, but he did get the most total votes ever. the 2004 election in general had the largest total number of votes ever cast so it ends up ( at least for now all this may change in the next election ) Bush has recieved the most votes in one election in history and kerry is #2.

More brainwashed talking points you learned on the radio or from CNN or Fox.

The funny thing is that you are the one who is "politically correct" in 2005, and you don't even realize it.

Your views are politically correct today.

Think about it for a moment and stop copy and pasting what other people have told you.

I guess we would have to look back 30 years to find the presidental election when democrats recieved the majority of the American Votes.
If you look only for an election with two candidates , a repub and a dem, then you have to go all the way back to 2000 where Gore actually got more votes then bush did but didn't win the electoral college. The time before that was in 76 when carter got more votes than ford.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you misstyped this. If not, I think you agreed with and complimented me. Some of it doesn't make any sense relative to what I said.

Either way, lets just agree to be friends with different political affiliations. We are both on GFY, we have a common purpose. Lets get busy chasing that goal.

Let me know If we can do business together sometime, I wouldn't hesitate.

I'll admit I don't know many, if any, of the democrats core principles other than they seem to want universal healthcare. I can't think of any others off the top of my head. But, on the same wave, I can't really think of any core conservative principles other than " lets make all TV and radio like it was in 1953."

You and I really shouldn't make an arguement about popular vote because thats not what wins elections.

If popular vote was key to winning, the candidate might have taken different strategies. Neither one would have gone outside new york, texas or california.

If a republican loses new York by 50 million votes or by 1 vote, its still the same result. He could spend time there and get more votes, but still lose the electoral votes. He is better advised to spend his time elswhere.

Works for both sides. example, kerry didn't campaign in Texas

this is true. The popular vote actually has very little to do with getting elected. Like you said Kerry didn't go to texas and I'm sure that there were areas where bush didn't bother going into because they knew they had no chance. I was just answering your original question which was ." I guess we would have to look back 30 years to find the presidental election when democrats recieved the majority of the American Votes."

the electoral college is, to me, an outdated system that should either be done away with or revamped. But for now it is the system we have so it is ver possible to lose the the popular vote by a large margine and still win the election.

3 years is a lifetime in national politics.

At this point in the last election cycle Gore was the "presumptive" nominee, considering the fact that he had won the popular vote in 2000.

Very few knew anything about John Kerry and nobody knew shit about Howard Dean.

Also on the republican side McCain is far from a sure thing....he's very old and would likely only serve 1 term if elected president. The right might want to go another way with someone younger.

The reason Hillary seems so popular right now is just name recognition.....if she'd never been the first lady we wouldn't be having this discussion.
