idea <this could make you rich>

An idea for a website.

Chess tournaments.

People pay $10 to play against another person online.

Winner goes onto the next level to play others who have also got to that level.

Keeps going on (say 10 levels), in the end a grand final.

The winner wins a cash prize (say $10,000) which will have been more than earn from all the people playing.

Surfers can watch the games live too (maybe a fee for the grand final).

I see this better as its skill rather than luck as in poker. And I would see millions of people playing.

Plus I bet you would get thousands of Chinese players too.

I think this would work once a month.

You only need 1000 players to pay $10 and it will cover the cost of the prize ($10,000). Any more is profit (and also to cover the cost of running the site).

1000 people paying $10 covers the cost of the prize.

Just think if you got 5000 playing.

Plus if you charged to watch the final.

Plus I bet some TV stations would be interested.

But the problem is, is that I guess people could cheat by using programs on there pc.

But the way round that maybe is to have the final mach in a room with both people (so they are facing each other) and so if one did cheat, he will loose if he is playing an expert.

its a good idea, i probably would make $10+1 and keep the dollar.. if you get 5000 folks you run 5 such turneys and then they could play each other and you collect 100 or more for buy-in from them..

My thought is as its not gambling or porn, places such as China would allow it.

You would need to be able to deliver it in many languages.

You could save some bandwidth by having some of the site downloaded as software, to have hosted on the persons pc.

I have had a look on the net and no one seems to be doing this.

$10+1 is not as gambling as it seems you get dollar for running system and providing the service, and rest goes in to the pot, wether it is or not the gambling doesn't really matter.

i know some chess players turned to poker because there is no money in chess, you might get them back to chess if money making scheme provided.

Download any online chess game, and see what happens when you try to play it online.

i think cheating will be the biggest problem. if the final match would be placed in an "real" location, you could just join any offline chess-competition...

You couldn't have the people in the same room for the final. What if it was a man from china against a lady from Phoenix? You would lose your profit trying to put them together.

I think you got a good idea, fix the cheating problem and then charge a monthly membership to play in matches and tournaments. Players get rankings as they play.

Now that I'm writing this, I think that has been done
