I believe it's short for Kilometer. Why does the US Millitary use the Metric system, and the rest of the country not? Kinda foolish, metric just makes sense.

What is the distance of a click as used by the military?

a "klick" is slang for a kilometer

Answer by anonymous ([email protected]) contributed on January 04, 2005, at 7:54pm. Last updated on January 05, 2005, at 07:52am.
Its spelled "KLICK"

It is short for "Kilometer", the metric equivalent of about 0.8 miles.

KLICK = Kilometer correct, however 1K = 0.62 mile. I hope you're not in the military

I hear it used occasionally here in Canada by civilians. My dad uses it a lot. Like others said, it's a kilometer.

Yeah, I heard people in Vancouver and Victoria say it all the time... not quite so prevalent out east here, which is odd considering the big naval base in town. Perhaps they prefer to think in knots (nautical miles).
