I was purchasing someone's sig for Prodinix.com our VOD solution and

a bunch of people told me that I should not purchase this one individuals sig because of who they were.

Does it really matter who's sig you buy?

Exposure is exposure when it comes to posting isn't it?

There is really no need to be concerned about the credibility of who's sig you are buying right?

What counts is how much they post in this case, I think.

Credibility definetly counts. A lot of people, especially those who are unfamiliar with sig selling, will associate the poster with the program and if they dislike the poster, they'll steer clear of the program.

Not to mention, if the person has questionable credibility, then people will not be happy with you giving money to this person. Say, for example, Poster ABC had ripped you off for $300 and you see Company XYZ giving him $500 for his sig, despite the well publicized fact that ABC ripped you off. Would you sign up for XYZ? I wouldn't.

I'm not sure who the person is you're talking about, so I'm not sure what the credibility issues are. Just throwing my thoughts out there.

While we're on the topic, my sig is for sale

I know there are many like Persius who feel that exposure is exposure but then I know a lot of people who agree with Psycho. If someone is desperate enough to pay for the sig space of a board member who lacks integrity or behaves like a total fool then that certainly does make me look twice at their business.

You might also be surprised at how many people who surf this place but seldom post and feel the same way.

This made me rethink on what i said above, i believe in what you say there are many types of exposure but if the person is a racist / rips people off and disrespects alot of people i would stay clear of him because his reflection may cause harm towards the company.....

Having fun on the boards and keeping a good character is beneficial toward the company i feel

don't think so...

As for the topic, I think it matters who you want to have your program associated with ;)

My take on it is this.

1. The person who runs your banner is his / her sig spot should know enough about the company that they would actually recommend the company to other webmasters.

2. The company should rely on the person who is flying the banner in thier signature not to make stupid posts just for a post count.

3. I do believe in compensation for flying someone elses banner even if it is per post but I also believe a minimum should be paid. IE: $50 dollar a month even if you don't reach minimum posts at $0.10 per post. This will cut down the unrelated posts in threads.

BTW Marty I am taking offers for my sig for next month. I would be happy to put yours there but I haven't yet made a decision on who's I'm going to put there. But I believe your product is one webmasters can use and I know your solid.
