What's your opinion on unblockable Pop-ups?
Pop-ups that can't be blocked regardless of the browser you use (IE, Firefox, etc). It seems this is now possible and being used. Good, bad, or indifferent?
Will this affect the way business is conducted to a large degree, even in indirect ways such as TGP listings. Will it cause greater backlash to adult sites, increase or lower in the long run? Will it compel browsers and pop-up blockers to merely develop new technology to stop these pop-ups too? |

I can virtually guarantee some new anti-popup technology will be developed to combat it. People have had a taste of surfing without getting caught in popup hell, and they like it.
May take a while though. I suspect many will take advantage of the window of opportunity while the taking's good. ![]() |

I have a pop-up blocker and for specific tasks I find it very useful. For example when browing some adult sites or approving galleries on a small tgp I run (because I get viruses within pop-ups from sometimes as many as 1 out of ever 3 galleries submitted). I can see these particular individuals utilizing this to force virus installs even more aggressively and I'll have to completely shut down before being able to approve the remainder of galleries submitted.
Getting around this will make the current pop-up blocking software defunct. People who paid for software to stop pop-ups will be pissed. But maybe we're taking this out of context? Is there anything in mainstream marketing that is comparable to this? |

All popups used to be unblockable and used in moderation, they had/have their place. But some sponsors are now talking about popups and forgetting to mention that in addition to opening new windows, some of the latest variations are also hi-jacking the original browser.
I also won't work with sponsors who use popups on entry: let's at least pretend you want to sell the site to which I'm sending traffic. Ditto those with several popups, most of which likely don't carry my affiliate code anywhere. Again it's just taking the p*ss. |
