It's hard to find Indian based domains without being Indian or living in India and of course all the obvious Indian terms were already taken...

It's also worth remembering that English is freely spoken by all age groups in India - So you can expect a huge amount of typeins in English - Also, India is a fast emerging country and the internet growth there will be phenominal over the next few years.
.in extentions are a nice investment - Looks like a load of you guys here have been cleaning up!

By the way - Who has kev.in? I wanted that one and am willing to buy, or trade kelv.in for it.

To each their own. I would rather spend $100 now and take my chances rather than miss out on a golden opportunity :winkwink:

If I waited for it to "evolve", it would've been too late to grab anything good at this price. You know how that works :)

Edit: Btw, i know a few law schools that would be interested in lawschools.in and same goes for med schools.

Also picked up a major state name, which I am sure will cover my investment 100x times as much as i spent today :winkwink:

You are absolutely right - Those who took a chance on buying loads of .com extentions made bank - This will not be on the same level, but I am certain the investors in .in will see excellent returns.

onlyreal 02-19-2005 04:43 AM

how is my one frp.in ?

English is spoken also in Poland but noone would type in law.pl, stockmarket.pl or teenporn.pl in their browser

so I don't think you will get many type ins from english words and .in domains ever

will they have some other value...? well, perhaps yes

polish_aristocrat 02-19-2005 04:51 AM

btw from what i know there's already the co.in extension and ppl in India are used to it so probably it will take a long time for sure before there will be even some established websites with the .in extension

Does this mean that you're buying domains with .IN extensions too?

How about men.in? :)

SomeCreep 02-19-2005 05:15 AM

.in domains suck donkey testicles. There were a few good ones, but those are all gone now. Now anything registered is just because of foolish hype.

am i missing something, how the fuck is a .in domain valuable unless you're snagging domains that use indian words?

Prof.Dr. Den 02-19-2005 05:29 AM

prasa 02-19-2005 05:40 AM

Haha, you of all people should be able to see through your own statement here.

Everything is #'s and when you have a lot of them, you are golden. Google gets way more hits than any other search engine and yahoo is #2. That is why we TARGET those and then secondary everything else.

Population India: 1,065,070,607 - median age = 24.4 - Purchasing Power - 3.033 Trillion
Population Poland: 38,626,349 - median age = 36.2 - Purchasing Power - $427.1 Billion

Internet users, 18 million India to 8 million Poland.
India is an opening market that is booming and becoming more technical and Poland is a levelled market that isn't expected much more increase outside of the rate of population growth.

India is going to be like we were during 1998 when everyone and their grandma started using the internet.

English in Poland ????
yea, tell me ...

You can't compare India and Poland in this case at all.

B40 02-19-2005 02:15 PM

What's the best .in domains you got? Almost everything I looked for was already taken

Didn't do much homework on this one, did you? - Even 90% of Indian search engines are in ENGLISH -

I haven't yet found a Polish search engine in English -

polish_aristocrat 02-19-2005 02:21 PM

My point was that regardless how many people live in India, or how many of them speak English, they won't type in be default english terms in their browsers like insurance.in or hotlesbians.in

so whoever registers them and expects type in visitors, will be disappointed

I am not speaking about DomBuyer, he probably knows what he does and he has lots of money to risk anyway.

Check out some of the popular indian sites like http://in.yahoo.com/ and India's largest media company, http://in.indiatimes.com/, all in english. Without marketing and branding, generic names still rule.

Well, im not gonna sell them tomorrow on gfy for 30 bucks.
I mean they either will turn into something good over the next 2 or 3 years or i wasted a few 100 bucks.

Dirty F 02-19-2005 02:43 PM

I wonder why their paypal account said that only 2 people paid them before.
I would expect 100's by now.

I see your point - But I think judging by the way the domains have been taken up, there has to be something in the .in extention. I know I was, and looks to me like many others were waiting for this extention to become live - The next big one is most probably the eu extention - And I am fairly certain most names there have been pre-ordered five times over - (They have a five tier waiting list)

As for typeins - Sure there will be some gain on that - But I think both the reseller and the brandable domains were probably upermost in the purchasing webmasterrs minds - I know the load I bought were for these two reasons, mainly -
