I Need Some Home Theatre Help!

We are just about to finish our basement and I need some ideas on a Home Theatre Room. I want to design the room around the home theatre and make it ultra comfortable. I'd like to hide all the speakers away and do it right.

Does anyone have any good links to sites where I see pictures of other home theatre room setups? I would like to show my contractor and decorator some styles I like and then work up a good design that would fit my home.

Any help would be appreciated

DH

Nothing is more sexy than a 800 pound Barco CRT projector. Maybe with a set of Crown amps and some Wilson speakers..

Your best bet is to hit the magazine rack and pick up a copy of Home Theater Interiors. Great mag with some awesome pics. They show a lot of celebrity home theaters, which are always cool to look at.

I used to visit this site a lot in the past:

http://gallery.audioreview.com/

You get a lot of guys showing off their 27 inch Sanyo and their Aiwa mini system, but occasionally there is a really nice theater setup to look at there.

Here's what you need for speakers. (at a bargain basement price of $30,000 US...each)

I spent $100k+ on mine, and learned many expensive lessons. Greg spent 1/10th that, and his is 75% as good as mine.

Hit me up on icq when I get back to the states.

klipsch makes in the wall speakers. I just installed some for my friend in his house and the they sound incredible. I've got klipsch rf25's and a 10" klipsch sub with klipsch surrounds powered by a dennon receiver and of course a panansonic plasma tv.
also psb makes pretty good speakers. but if youre looking for invisibility the in the wall speakers are what you may be after.

dude - the room's focus is BOTH the tv and fireplace - it really works there. TRUST ME - few rooms can pull that off - this one does and does it really well. (gas fireplace too) and since then I have thick wood blinds on those windows and they only get morning sun so they're not an issue.

Acoustically speaking......That's not a very good way to do things.

But all that really matters is if you are happy with it.

here is another one

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/bbs/...ent/page3.html

if you're looking for a projector, I have an Integra DLV-100 DLP projector and ceiling mount that I'll sell pretty cheap, has less than 100 hours use. Converted the theater into a guest room so I have no use for it anymore Review on it is here

DH,

There's a magazine called "AV Interiors". The mag is entirely that.

damn, i couldn't find one with the new wood blinds or the surround sound speakers in the walls...the speakers are above the windows and behind the camera on the back walls - big sub woofer is off to the side...

there's the sub woofer and speaker up high above the window.....

for the room it's the best placement - better rooms would have different placements. the speakers were installed by a high end company that does concert halls and all kinds of high end home theater and stereo setups and really knew their stuff.

BradShaw is 100% right. avsforum is the authority as far as A/V BBS. those guys will set you straight and give you good tips.

I'm running a Sony LCD projector with 120" screen. Acoustic Research for all my speakers and woofer's, then a 18" JBL studio bass with an 850 watt amp. The 18" studio bass sounds kinda hokey, but don't knock it til you try it. For $1k you aren't going to get near it for accuracy and feel in the home theater market. HK head unit, all digital, and old school carver tube amps (can't seem to let go of them ... so warm).

My home theater has been in the works 2 years, figuring out what i like, what i don't like and getting everything placed properly. now i'm ordering up a set of 10 home theater recliners and getting the basement beautified .

Home theater is worth every penny!
