Program that cut *AVI files, that win XP support

Hi,
I tried to run virtualdub under win xp but it always makes an error. Anyone knows a similar program that works under it.

XP Movie Maker is built-in. The one thing I don't like is that it auto creates clips for you when it imports by default, but you can shut that off in the options. I think it would work for you?

windows movie maker doesnt support divx files (*.avi)

well, it makes that error when I try to open an *.avi file...

I have used it to chop AVIs, but I bet it doesn't support that particular codec (DIVX). I'm not into the tech stuff that deep, but there might be a codec available for it somewhere
