Stupid question about firefox.

Ok, so there was an exploit that was discovered with firefox but not for IE

So here my question, Since firefox is open source, and the fix is a patch.. does that mean that the current firefox will not have this patch?

im wondering since the whole point of open source is that they dont really develop the extentions, other programmers do so.

The patch will be incorporated into the next release if it is an exploit in the main code. If the exploit is in an extension, then the extension will incorporate the fix in a future extension version.

If you're referring to the IDN vulerability, then just don't click links from emails or other websites to your bank or paypal etc. simply type them into the address bar or use your quicklinks or bookmarks.

The IDN vulerability is a problem inherent in IDN itself. It simply has to be disabled in Firefox. Unfortunately there is a bug in Firefox that re-enables the feature when you restart the browser. The bug will be fixed in the next release, and I'm sure IDN will be disabled by default as well.
