It was a breeze telling my parents that I was an adult webmaster. After telling her that I was gay, I had sex with animals, I worked at an abortion clinic, I stole $10K from her savings account, and I dropped outta shcool, an announcement like me being an adult webmaster couldn't phase her, ha ha ha.
Actually, I just told her that I was quiting my full time job to become a webmaster. She thought that I was stupid. Well, years later, I'm still doing what I love to do, making much better money than any other full time job, so I made the right choice. NO, I'm NOT GAY, that was just a part of the joke, he he he. Well, the way I told my parents was, I walked up to their adjoining plots and said:
"Hey Mom. Hey Dad. I work in porn now". They didn't say much. Seriously, if they were alive, I would still tell them. They raised me without sexual hang-ups. Hell, my own brother convinced me to get into this business. My sister is thrilled that I am making a living at a job I love. My family has never been a problem. Most of my adult life .... not to mention while I lived at home .... I have borrowed money from my mother when I had nowhere else to turn.
Now she has had Hernia trouble TWICE in the past 8 months, and has missed alot of work as a result. I have been sending her money to help out, and am buying her a brand new computer for Xmas to replace the old 386 with a 14K crude modem that she currently has. She questioned me as to how I have been able to send the amounts of money I have been sending ... Being the fairly liberal woman she is, I told her that I am doing porn sites as well as mainstream now ... She asked to see my work ... and she was IMPRESSED !!!  She asked how she could make money with it ... so after I get her a new computer, (I'm looking at a 1.7Ghz P4 machine for her ... I'm 23 and in the same boat. What is it about the Holidays that make us want to confess? I think I'm going to do it this year. It has a little to do with the whole spet 11 shit. Life's short. If you can't tell the people you love the truth...something is fucked up. I've been in the biz for 2 and half years now. When I was making 5k a month and driving a 540 - I was telling my mom that I was making 10$/hr as an assitant/coffee mook at a mainstream.com And somehow I haven't had a "job" for just about a year now. Unfortunately for the last two years my tax returns have gone to her house (and she opened them) and I made 3x what she did. So I know she knows something is up. I said it was the stock market. I'm going to come clean sometime soon... just need to find out how to approach it. The reason I haven't...when my mom was raising us...I was told that Porn was Evil. It exploits women. Degrades them. And makes guys treat them like shit...and rape them. But I think she's changed some of her opinions...she accepts the whole Bill Clinton thing. She didn't mind that my sister had a friend that worked at a strip club. Looking for REAL SUGGESTIONS of how to bring the subject up. Okay, here is my recommendation
1. Make a really slick looking mini network of free non adult sites, a few sponsors (remember this is for show, not income) 2. Make a non nude girly site, add a couple mild sponsors, maybe a sex toy store 3. Make a bikini site 4. Make a Playboy style site, real tasteful nudes, pretty babes Now you can start by introducing your family to site group number one... my mom works for me in this business. She loves it. In 2 hours she makes what would take her 8 hours workig at a grocery store. She works at her home and is very reliable.

Hehe I say the same thing regarding webmaster stuff. When people ask which sites I have done. I give an example of one site I did 2 years back in Front Page that took me 45 minutes to design! IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT!!!

I made the mistake of telling my family one night when I was drunk ...
My mom, and sister, especially, was appalled ... my brothers and uncle mostly didn't have a problem with it ... The men, of course, wanted to know all about it ...The women, typically, hated it ... I wish I hadn't said anything at all though ... would have saved me a bunch of grief Maybe they would have found out anyway but it was stupid of me to spit it out like that ... I am 20, I told my parents I did reviews for search engines. After that they both wanted me to teach them. Then my uncle found out and he wanted to teach him. Then I was getting calls from people I didn't even know wanting me to show them. I think the hardest part is avoiding people from wanting to teach them how to make money on the internet rather than trying to avoid telling them you are making money on the internet.

What about showing them a celebrity-site and some celebrity-sponsors? You can tell them that alot of people searching for pictures of britney and you just make them go to a sponsor that pay you some money for every sale they make? Well that's probably the way I'm going to tell my parents... Celebrity-sites are usually pretty "hardcore-free"...
