Pretty common place depending on the type of wood. I used to work for a renovation place that would buy up antique wood or refurbished wood to use in "antique" type rebuilds. To give it that "weathered" appearance. Shit can get pretty expensive too from what I understand. Especially for the larger boards. My old employer used to carve ducks out of the stuff for hunting decoys. He paid like $800 or some shit one time for a 8 foot 6x6. Kind of goofy to spend that kind of cash on an old board but he said the good ones were more solid and cured or some shit.

I know someone who tears down old barns throughout the midwest for free in exchange for keeping the wood.
He makes craft items out of it and sells the rest to other crafters. |
