Most likely what happened is that you were testing his levels to see how he would react (subconsciously you were doing this and didnt realize it) and how far you could push him before he snapped and what he would do. Now you are upset that his reaction was to hit you and if another fight happens he will probably really hurt you because he thinks what he does was ok. This fight was all over you being a pest, what if the fight was about something real and meaningful, how would he react.

This is a sign that you should break up, you are not right for each other. You need a man who puts you in your place (when you need to be put in your place as all humans do from time to time) and who wont hit you to accomplish that.

There's never an excuse for hitting someone else. Doesn't matter if it's a guy hitting a girl or the other way around. This time he didn't hit your hard, but he has proven himself to be physical, what will he do next time?
