Goldstein Plans Return to LA

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Al Goldstein told AVN.com Thursday that he is preparing to return to Los Angeles and is seeking employment within the adult industry.

?I want to be back. I have 34 years experience. I started in 1968. I have 21 arrests for obscenity. I just want a decent job, or an indecent job,? Goldstein, the former publisher of Screw magazine, said in an interview from Staten Island, N.Y.

?I?m great on the phone, or calling on retailers and selling. I just need a decent salary and health insurance. I?ll sign a two-year contract and I?m willing to work seven days a week, 10 hours a day.?

Goldstein, who described himself as ?the Godfather of Porn,? said he would be ready to start working on March 1.

?I won?t work on commission. I want a salary with guaranteed growth potential. If someone has a video line, I?ll open doors for them. I?ll work the phones. I just want to prove I?m their most valuable employee,? he said.

Ron Jeremy said that Goldstein would be an asset to anyone?s company.

?Al was a pioneer, no one can deny that,? Jeremy told AVN.com. ?He fought court battles. He faced arrests. He faced beatings. He ran his business single-handedly for 30 some odd years. He really, really wants to work, and get down and dirty and get serious. He is very personable. He has a high IQ and a phenomenal speaking voice. He could probably convince Sister Mary to buy an anal tape.

?He has a very persuasive voice. You want him selling.?

Jeremy said that perhaps Goldstein?s brashness makes him misunderstood.

?You want people to call a spade a spade,? he said. ?Whether he?s making a sale or not making a sale, he?ll tell you the truth. He probably could be an asset to any kind of company. Hey, here?s a guy that was blown by Linda Lovelace.?

Jeremy pointed out that ?everyone in New York knows him.?

?He?s famous all over New York,? Jeremy said. ?He?s in that big hit at Sundance, Inside Deep Throat and there?s a documentary coming out on him. His notoriety will increase ten-fold.?

Goldstein said he has ?a new wife and a new life.?

?This is the first time in my life I?m wearing a wedding ring,? Goldstein said. ?I?m 69, she?s 28. I just want to work and I love the porno business.?

Goldstein, who recently worked in food sales for a short time and also used to sell life insurance, described his current level of excitement as ?Ron Jeremy hard.?

?I?m ready to pop,? he said. ?? I?m the only guy in his 60s who was nominated {in 2005} for {AVN} Best Supporting Actor. I didn?t win, and I?m demanding a recount, but I know the world of pornography. Anybody that doesn?t take advantage of that is foolish.?

Goldstein added, ?I?m a thoroughbred. I just want to be saddled and ridden.?

I find it sad that a pioneer in the adult business would wind up looking to "work the phone".
