Bush Plan Calls for Bigger, More Powerful Government

President Bush's second-term agenda would expand not only the size of the federal government but also its influence over the lives of millions of Americans by imposing new national restrictions on high schools, court cases and marriages.

In a clear break from Republican campaigns of the 1990s to downsize government and devolve power to the states, Bush is fostering what amounts to an era of new federalism in which the national government shapes, not shrinks, programs and institutions to comport with various conservative ideals, according to Republicans inside and outside the White House.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...-2005Feb8.html

Next time a brainwashed Republican tells you they are for "less government", laugh in their face.

Bush is pushing more government, less freedom for all Americans.

Don't fall for Republican lies.

The government has been expanding much faster under Bush than Clinton or any other recent Democrat.

Republicans claim they are for smaller government, but they really want a huge powerful government that controls everything you do.

Don't believe everything you see on Fox and CNN.

You support free speech only for anyone you agree with, and for no one you disagree with. That's brilliant.

How brilliant of you to try and accuse someone of only being free speech if they agree with that persons views. It seems to me that your precious little ACLU has forgotten that the very 1st Amendment they champion actually starts with the Freedom of Religion. Funny how the ACLU will be the first to jump into the fight to take religion out of society, while also trying to be the vanguards in the fight for free speech. Talk about only supporting that which you agree with. Last time I heard one a Prayer in public is a form of free speech. A picture, statue, or monument dedicated to a historical person, point in time, quotes from a book, and, oh my, even pornography are all covered under the Freedom of Expression. Another liberty included under the protection of.... wait for it ... Yeah! The First Amendment of our nation?s Bill of Rights. Why is it then that the little minds of the ACLU only care about one of those three main principals that our country was founded upon? I must remind you after all the ?L? stands for Liberties not Liberal Ideology!

- The average lifetime of a superpower is 200 years
- USA is the world's only superpower right now

Hate on Bush all you like for his policies and past actions, but if the Social Security is not sorted out, it WILL bring down the superpower.

You can do anything you want with religion in your private life. The ACLU fights to keep the separation between church and state, which Thomas Jefferson has said the First Amendment creates. That is one of the foundations of this country being defended by one of the founders of the country. Do you think Thomas Jefferson is anti-American too?

If there was no separation of church and state, free speech would probably not exist in America and you would probably be in jail.

I said nothing about our country being founded on a religion. I clearly stated that the three main principals our country was founded on were those protected in The First Amendment, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, and Freedom of Expression. I guess they don't teach reading comprehension in the liberal run schools any more. Too bad I always thought it was a valuable concept.

I simply am sick and tired of the incredible waste of time and money groups like the ACLU and many others waste with this fight. You wanted examples of how the ACLU is fighting to remove religion from society. The longest drawn out fight for one example alone is public prayer & school prayer. This has been an issue that the ACLU has been engaged in all out war against for decades using the umbrella of "Church & State" as their litmus test. First of all, Church & State was intended to prevent the establishment of a single religion imposed upon the people by the government that was all. Never in any of our founding fathers writings on the subject is there any mention of not allowing government to be involved in religious activities. To the contrary they consistently had direct links between religion and the daily functions of government. After all it is not the Webster?s Dictionary that you put your hand on before taking an oath.

The more recent example is that of having the Ten Commandments removed from all public buildings, parks, and even some flags and official seals of local government agencies. Now here again I am not necessarily taking the side of the whacko State Supreme Court Judge in Alabama or where ever that was but I do not see a need to have something that has been a part of the "laws of our land" removed from all public existence. The Ten Commandments were the basis of most of the original laws of society written into the constitution yet now 230+ years later we need to get rid of them. Why? Are the hurting your eyes? Do they make you feel guilty for coveting thy neighbor?s wife? I just don't understand why they are bad for society.

And I for one am in need of going to confession every single day because as long as there are sites like Vanilla's I am going to be coveting someone?s wife!

Here are the ten commendments. take special note of the first three:

1) Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

2) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

3) Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

4) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

5) Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

6) Thou shalt not kill.

7) Thou shalt not commit adultery.

8) Thou shalt not steal.

9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's.

--Exodus: 20:03-20:17

Would you edit them? Jesus did:

And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

--Matthew: 19:17-19:19

Where in that fucked up head of yours can you not comprehend the difference between freedom of religion and a religious government?
