i've got over 200 layers on this design i want to make changes on - i'm fucked - i don't label my layers enough - this will be a bitch to figure out. i need to learn how to use 'layer sets'.

So on a paysite design how many layers do you guys wind up with? I think I average about 120.

200? you should put them in sub folders though.

can go over 300...always a mess...(no names, no folders)

i have used up to 20 layers on some of my photochops

I use the colors, that helps a lot but I wish you had more than 6 colors to choose from and also I wish you could have subfolder withing folders, maybe they implented that in CS?

Use layer comps man, I used to have the same problem, until I found how useful they are.
