With Google now a registrar, what kind of impact will this have on the many domain registration companies? It could be interesting as most of them are *customers* of Google.

Google email, Google hosting, Google domains, Google Adwords, Froogle for product placement - sounds like a nice small business solution.

im confident below $10/domain.

They'll either go for profit or just for expanding, either way they have a big client list they would trust them. I can seem them going for profit and not hiting the competition that hard for the moment.

It is now entitled to sell any .biz, .com, .info, .name, .net, .org and .pro domains (but not .aero, .coop, or .museum). Interestingly though, a Google spokeswoman told us it has no plans to sell any at the moment.

The reason it paid a $2,500 application fee and $6,500 to cover six top-level domains is that it "wants to get a better understanding of the domain name system [and so] increase the quality of our search results".

yeah google is closing in on Microsoft lol - next we will see google getting patents on what have you and announcing their GoggleOS

I kinda liked google more when they were the underdog kickass search engine and nothing else

if google.com offer to me $6 per domain name i will move my 1500 domains to google

Now i pay $6.69 per domain name.
