Seagate is badass... I have 5, no problems.
Had 3 maxtor, 2 of them crashed

Both are good, but if you are looking into silence rather than raw performance (for which Maxtor are very good also) I would get the Seagate rather than WD

most seagates have 5 year warrantys. No western digital's do. You can't go wrong with a company that will replace the drive in 4 years and 11 monthes if it fucks up

don't know which is better,
just avoid maxtor!!!
Had like 6 that burned out in a few months!

Nop when it comes down to performance, tho a Maxtor with 16MB cache is better

When it comes to quality any of this brands will treath you good: Seagate, Maxtor, WD, and the latest Hitachi after they got the hdd biz from IBM.
