Western Digital or Seagate

Which hard disk brand is better?

Spunky 01-31-2005 07:44 AM

I heard Seagates have been pretty good

infecto 01-31-2005 07:45 AM

Might just be me but I always go with WD.

flashfreak 01-31-2005 07:47 AM

Seagate is badass... I have 5, no problems.
Had 3 maxtor, 2 of them crashed :(

Rui 01-31-2005 09:11 AM

Both are good, but if you are looking into silence rather than raw performance (for which Maxtor are very good also) I would get the Seagate rather than WD

dready 01-31-2005 09:33 AM

Check the stats... noise is a big one for me.

Kard63 01-31-2005 09:34 AM

WD. but it doesnt really matter. Just avoid maxtor.

HorseShit 01-31-2005 09:40 AM

most seagates have 5 year warrantys. No western digital's do. You can't go wrong with a company that will replace the drive in 4 years and 11 monthes if it fucks up

Gunni 01-31-2005 09:46 AM

don't know which is better,
just avoid maxtor!!!
Had like 6 that burned out in a few months! :(

Vitasoy 01-31-2005 09:53 AM

I prefer seagate cause they're quieter.

pinkbee 01-31-2005 09:58 AM

I'm using Maxtor....sometimes my PC can't startup :(

Nop when it comes down to performance, tho a Maxtor with 16MB cache is better :)

When it comes to quality any of this brands will treath you good: Seagate, Maxtor, WD, and the latest Hitachi after they got the hdd biz from IBM.
