Good general concept, the whole twist at the end.

But agreed, they could have taken that idea and made something way better.

It would have made an okay 1/2 hour Twilight Zone episode, but as a full-length movie it blew.

Are you guys kidding? It was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

Sure, if you were expecting 'scary horror monster show' it lamed out.

BUT, what it offered was much more interesting and substantive. If you have ever lived in smaller communities (GFY is one), and had the hankering to find the ideal balance and try and hold it there, you would appreciate what this movie was about.

Three thumbs up from this villager!

I bet you liked Signs too.

For GoLiaT: Was the movie actually worse than Signs? I haven't seen The Village, but Signs ranks up there with the worst movies ever made in my book.

Nope - no comparison.

The religious undertones of Signs were revolting. Village was more abstract.

I liked it. It was different. I had already heard from a friend that it wasn't scary but it was good. So I didn't have those expectations, that it seems you guys had, and where let down, therefore thinking it sucked.

I enjoyed it, wouldn't say it was the great terrific fantastic. It had a lot of twists and I liked that!!!

Unfortunately those living in a box are unable to comprehend art that transcends thought; that is why they think in the box in the first place. It is a subtle irony, appealing with a red background to only those that enjoy red.

It was good as some anthropological study, maybe for some college course but the way they hyped it (and I don't mean as a scary movie) it was very dissappointing and predictable.

I agree - they did push it as something different than what it was. I suspect part of the promotion (aside from attracting everyone interested in monster flics) was to set the stage for the 'turn-around'.

I walked out of the cinema quite disappointed. However, as the days passed I thought about the movie more and more and the logic behind the people creating "The Village" and the way they protected it.

A few months after seeing the movie I think it was a good movie.
