the village - sucks...

what kind of piece of shit movie is it ?
must be among the crappiest movies i ever seen

MakeMeGrrrrowl 01-26-2005 12:10 PM

I agree, I thought it was pretty bad too.

andrej_NDC 01-26-2005 12:13 PM

I liked it, I like mystery movies and the end was at least different. :)

HAPPYPEEKERS 01-26-2005 12:14 PM

I agree.. It was a totally stupid movie :disgust

Xplicit 01-26-2005 12:18 PM

Good general concept, the whole twist at the end.

But agreed, they could have taken that idea and made something way better.

MattO 01-26-2005 12:18 PM

It would have made an okay 1/2 hour Twilight Zone episode, but as a full-length movie it blew.

Ironhorse 01-26-2005 12:22 PM

I agree, totally predictable too

lagwagon 01-26-2005 12:26 PM

hell ya that movie was lame. the girl got better looking by the end of the movie though.

Marcus Aurelius 01-26-2005 12:27 PM

after I learned the ending I had no desire to see it.

Meta Ridley 01-26-2005 12:27 PM

All his movies suck.

Except unbreakable.

sweetME 01-26-2005 12:30 PM

All scary movies are stupid, especially the "Village".

BIGTYMER 01-26-2005 12:36 PM

Thanks! It was on my watch list. Removed!

GTS Mark 01-26-2005 12:39 PM

Yeah the village was terrible... The Sixth Sense was great though :)

See that was problem number 1. they pushed this movie as a scary movie. It was anything but. I hated it, my wife hated it.

just horrible

siva350 01-26-2005 12:42 PM

I agree, that movie was lame ass shit

extreme 01-26-2005 12:47 PM

kind of liked it.. different, unpredictable, which is a good thing.

brand0n 01-26-2005 12:48 PM

yea that was pretty fuckin bad.. deep water ate ass as well

dcortez 01-26-2005 12:49 PM

Are you guys kidding? It was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

Sure, if you were expecting 'scary horror monster show' it lamed out.

BUT, what it offered was much more interesting and substantive. If you have ever lived in smaller communities (GFY is one), and had the hankering to find the ideal balance and try and hold it there, you would appreciate what this movie was about.

Three thumbs up from this villager!

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

ItBurnsWhenIpee 01-26-2005 12:49 PM

I didn't like the twists, but everything before that was shot beautifully...you have to give it that.

See Cig 01-26-2005 01:09 PM

havent seen it yet

infecto 01-26-2005 01:12 PM

I just hated the twist. If they had gotten rid of the twist and made the things real it would have been 10x better imo.

I bet you liked Signs too.

For GoLiaT: Was the movie actually worse than Signs? I haven't seen The Village, but Signs ranks up there with the worst movies ever made in my book.

Wiggles 01-26-2005 01:30 PM

if the monsters were real it would be like 100x better.

Screaming 01-26-2005 02:01 PM

Im glad I missed this 1.

BRISK 01-26-2005 02:06 PM

Signs was absolute SHIT, so I'm not surprised this would suck as well.

Nope - no comparison.

The religious undertones of Signs were revolting. Village was more abstract.

flashfire 01-26-2005 02:59 PM

I thought it was fairly good, not the worst I've seen by a longshot

tungsten 01-26-2005 02:59 PM

worst movie ever!

xclusive 01-26-2005 03:00 PM

Totally not what they promoted it too be

signs is better

Basic_man 01-26-2005 03:05 PM

Man, this movie is pretty good ! And I'm pretty sure it was filmed here in Quebec..

Loryn 01-26-2005 03:05 PM

I liked it. It was different. I had already heard from a friend that it wasn't scary but it was good. So I didn't have those expectations, that it seems you guys had, and where let down, therefore thinking it sucked.

I enjoyed it, wouldn't say it was the great terrific fantastic. It had a lot of twists and I liked that!!! :thumbsup

Unfortunately those living in a box are unable to comprehend art that transcends thought; that is why they think in the box in the first place. It is a subtle irony, appealing with a red background to only those that enjoy red.

count bling 01-26-2005 03:08 PM

what? that is my new favorite of all time!

It was good as some anthropological study, maybe for some college course but the way they hyped it (and I don't mean as a scary movie) it was very dissappointing and predictable.

keyboard warrior 01-26-2005 04:14 PM

Worst Fucking Movie ever dont know why it did so good.

I agree - they did push it as something different than what it was. I suspect part of the promotion (aside from attracting everyone interested in monster flics) was to set the stage for the 'turn-around'.

JimmiDean 01-26-2005 04:33 PM

hated it

pet kangaroo 01-26-2005 05:42 PM

I walked out of the cinema quite disappointed. However, as the days passed I thought about the movie more and more and the logic behind the people creating "The Village" and the way they protected it.

A few months after seeing the movie I think it was a good movie.
:2 cents:

pxxx 01-26-2005 05:54 PM

I never seen it before.

if they had made it real then it would have been an MNS movie
all of his movies have to have a twist.

wargames 01-26-2005 06:55 PM

I hate that movie. It's a waste of time and money.

sharpx9 01-26-2005 06:56 PM

I liked it. It was very entertaining..

Playful_Lady 01-26-2005 06:57 PM

I heard it was't good at all.

Martin 01-26-2005 07:18 PM

I don't even bother with the new shit coming out these days.. Good movies never seem to make any waves at all.. The best new movies I've seen are movies I never heard of before.

Pornwolf 01-26-2005 08:20 PM

I will not be renting it. Thanks guys.
