Read this thread and go to jail! insider information. hip hop scandal!

so i'm talking to j$tyle$ today.

we have been trading hip hop street mix CDs back and forth because he is 3l33t and all, so i was on another board today, some one was asking me for street cds. basically, i understand that when music is your life, you are completely immersed in a culture and you get to see and hear everything that goes on at the street level. by dropping this little resource over there, i understand how everyone doesn't get to hear about the diamonds in the rough kinda stuff.

this website will change your life if you are a hip hop fan. i recommend from their top sellers list.
rap phenomenon vol one and two, respectively, biggie and tupac are showcased.

the website is http://www.mixunit.com/

hip hop nuts get your fix.

oh and one more thing.

The JAY-Z Linkin Park thing is the HOT SHIT! its not on mix unit, but you ahve got to hear the LIVE concert version of jay-z and the linkin park mash up.

if you don't like it then i can't help you. wow.

thanks $tyle$ YER 3l33t! and short.

but still a

yes, profiting from the tapes is a severe gray area. however, theres an underground society in mix tape culture that has arrangements with the studios. alot of the time the djs are hired by the actual label of the music thats being street released so its a chemistry that has come to be over the last 25 years. djs are as essential to music distribution as webmasters are to affiliate programs. biting the dj can come back to bite you. its an interesting hierarchy thats for sure.

I like both Link Park and Jay-Z (well some of his stuff), but after hearing the hype was really disappointed in their crossover stuff.

The only track that was barely decent was 99 Problems / One Step Closer, and maybe Numb/Encore.

I've heard Linkin Park do better mixes live with Fred Durst than this stuff with Jay-Z =(

don't listen to the studio versions. the live version of JAYz and linkin park is ridiculously sick. i am about a year ahead of culture, but watch this type of thing is going to be the next thing. mark my words. i remember years and years ago people telling me that hip hop wouldnt get big.

crossover is a big pill to swallow. you cant stop it though. its going there.

There was a comp out that I liked of rap/rock called Loud Rocks:

System Of A Down/Wu-Tang Clan - Shame
Sugar Ray/Tha Alkaholiks - Make Room
Static-X/Dead Prez - Hip Hop
Endo/Xzibit - Los Angeles Times
Everlast/Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Part II
Tom Morello & Chad Smith/Wu-Tang Clan - Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nothing To Fuck Wit
Crazy Town/Tha Alkaholiks - Only When I'm Drunk
Sevendust/Xzibit - What You See Is What You Get
Grunge Is Dead (Butch Vig)/M.O.P. - How About Some Hardcore
Ozzy Osbourne & Tony Iommi/Wu-Tang Clan - For Heaven's Sake 2000
Shootyz Groove/Big Pun - Caribbean Connection
Sick Of It All/Mobb Deep - Survival Of The Fittest
Incubus/Big Pun - Still Not A Player

I wouldn't have any problem with more cross-overs happening though =)
