While no registrar is safe, some are substantially more vulnerable than others. I think all the registrars who are losing domains would do well to publicly explain how it's happening and what they're doing to address the situation - whether it's more the fault of the registrars, or more the fault of the domain owners. In some cases it's a combination...registrars may meet the minimum standards required by ICANN, but there's a lot more they could do.

Personally I'd consider Fabulous or Moniker. Not such good user interfaces, and I haven't used either extensively enough to know their weaknesses, but I'm shifting more names to Moniker now based on approach to security and support. There are a lot of different areas in which registrars can focus, such as user interface, support, DNS management, mail and hosting services, privacy protection, security, bulk domain management, reseller services, parking page monetization, expired domain resale, and many other areas; I'm considering only security in the above suggestion.
