I have successfully run 3 monitors off of one PC. 1 24" CRT and 2 17" CRT's

I now run 2 19" LCD's on my G5 Mac.

The key on the PC is to use 3 different video cards (1 AGP and 2 PCI) from 3 different vendors to aviod driver conflicts.

I should also mention that you can't have too many monitors. I would like a 6 screen setup for my Mac.

More monitors = better productivity

I am running 2 LCD's and I would think the 3rd would be nice but I don't think I would use it much.

But, if I was to add a 3rd it would be a large main panel for viewing and shit like that and I would sit it ontop of my dual configuration.

How about adding a 30" Apple Cinema HD display as a second monitor...2560x1600 resolution on one screen. Cost (around $3000, plus a $500 graphics card on a PC) is a lot higher than adding another normal LCD screen, but that would be a nice screen to look at.

hahaha never ask why.. just do! If you've already got a dual agp, get your hands on a PCI video card that will handle your rez and your set.. I used to run a 3 monitor setup, but I've recently just stuck with two. I was worried that I was getting a tan off the radiation (21" Crt's)

you can run it with one good dual display card , and then a second PCI , as long as its a new card , and it may fuck up from time to time .
