three monitor setup?

Anyone running a three monitor setup, lately i have been feeling the need to add one more monitor to my dual setup?

bigdog 01-17-2005 06:55 AM

i've got a dual and feel thats enough. how come you need a third ?

Babagirls 01-17-2005 07:00 AM

i couldnt see the need for a 3rd (unless you're running some sort of designing or cam biz....)

sometimes i got stuff going on both screens and it seems a third one could come in handy, or maybe i am just bored and want to try something new

I have successfully run 3 monitors off of one PC. 1 24" CRT and 2 17" CRT's

I now run 2 19" LCD's on my G5 Mac.

The key on the PC is to use 3 different video cards (1 AGP and 2 PCI) from 3 different vendors to aviod driver conflicts.

I should also mention that you can't have too many monitors. I would like a 6 screen setup for my Mac.

More monitors = better productivity

I am running 2 LCD's and I would think the 3rd would be nice but I don't think I would use it much.

But, if I was to add a 3rd it would be a large main panel for viewing and shit like that and I would sit it ontop of my dual configuration.

bigdog 01-17-2005 07:09 AM

seems i would have to get a bigger desk to add a third these big bulky dells take up a lot of room

xclusive 01-17-2005 07:14 AM

i am thinking about going for 3 19inch lcds i do a lot of design work and i think it would come in handy

MickeyG 01-17-2005 07:21 AM

i got a dual setup with a 8 port kvm, i've thought of adding a third too but i think it would be overkill

How about adding a 30" Apple Cinema HD display as a second monitor...2560x1600 resolution on one screen. Cost (around $3000, plus a $500 graphics card on a PC) is a lot higher than adding another normal LCD screen, but that would be a nice screen to look at.

I have to 19 inch lcd's coming today or tomorrow from new egg and since new england won last night I have some extra cash to add a better vid card or a third lcd.

Grapesoda 01-17-2005 08:13 AM

i run 2 monitors, 2, 19' LCD's however i run 2 complete systemsof a switch. i start a job on 1 box and switch to the other and start another task. use my laptop on a wireless router for paper work and email stuff . . . BTW i've always heard windows os could run about 15 monitors

shuki 01-17-2005 08:34 AM

What videocards do you guys suggest getting.

I only need it for biz applications not gaming.

Matrox Parhelia can support 3 monitors

shuki 01-17-2005 08:38 AM

What are the main differences between these:

650
750
Parhelia

Thanks

shuki 01-17-2005 12:19 PM

Fed Ex arrived with my 2 monitors.

Now I just need to go to the store and get the videocard.

hahaha never ask why.. just do! If you've already got a dual agp, get your hands on a PCI video card that will handle your rez and your set.. I used to run a 3 monitor setup, but I've recently just stuck with two. I was worried that I was getting a tan off the radiation (21" Crt's)

LasseKongos 01-17-2005 12:21 PM

Can someone PLEASE explain how to setup 2?

candyflip 01-17-2005 12:22 PM

Why stop at three...why not 4?

MikeXAMO 01-17-2005 12:25 PM

oh and I switched to 21" lcd's instead of crt's.. so much more desk space now!

machinegunkelly 01-17-2005 12:28 PM

you can run it with one good dual display card , and then a second PCI , as long as its a new card , and it may fuck up from time to time .

jazzll 01-17-2005 12:47 PM

There's no money in a three monitor setup

shuki 01-17-2005 12:47 PM

I am getting the Matrox 750 unless someone says otherwise

LA Mike 01-17-2005 12:51 PM
