What the hell? (Paycom)

For those of you who use paycom to process, I have a question id like answered.

How long did it take for paycom to activate your links so you can accept payment?

I sent them my contract 2 months ago and just a few days ago received an email stating that I need to be compliant before they can approve me. The email stated that I needed to add certain things to my join page like their link codes (which would have already been there, had they sent me the codes previously).

So, I called them up, had them send me the codes, and then made a whole new join page to incorporate their codes. The guy I spoke with on the phone said if I hurried and got that all done before the end of they day, I would be able to get approved and start processing.

When I finished up, I called paycom back, but the guy I had been dealing with had already gone home, so they passed me to someone else. I had the guy look at the new page to make sure it was compliant and he said yes, and that everything looked good. He asked me to email the link so he could forward it to the department which approves the account. So I did...and no one responded.

I've since emailed them a few times today and one of the responses I got was from the original guy I spoke with from paycom. He said he just signed off on my account. Naturally I thought that meant I could process sales now. Nope. Still nothing.

So, now I get an email from him that says it's gonna take even longer because after he signs off on it, it gets passed to another department, which passes it to yet another department.

What I don't get it, what was the rush with me getting their codes up on my site if I cant even use them? This is causing me to lose money when surfers try to join and get an error.

Anyone else have similiar problems with paycom?

People may criticise CCBill but and the end of the day the majority of the world uses them. Paycom still cant be used by anyone who isnt based in America.

Think about it...

uh oh. So it's always like this with them?

What about getting your payouts? Is that atleast on time? I've only used ccbill (since globill went out) so I am not familiar with other companies. I've never had an issue with ccbill though. Checks are always on time, tech support is great and turn around time is wonderful too.

That was so long ago.

All I care about now is that when I submit a site for Visa approval it only takes a few days.

That's how I feel. The guy at paycom says it's usually within the week but can take up to 2 weeks.

You literally have to call them about a dozen times to make sure its getting done. Checks do go out on time. Implementation takes a lot longer. I'll keep you updated here, as we applied for new paycodes for a new site yesterday.

Heather,
I think you'll find all processors want everything on the site active when they run through it for compliance, that means join links, members area etc. I know both paycom and ibill required this and I assume ccbill is no different. The final signing off process is pretty quick, you'll probably be processing after the weekend. I didn't have to wait 2 months to get the compliance dept to check my site, so not sure why that would have happened to you but I can tell you I think you'll be very pleased with paycom like we have. Checks in the mail every week like clockwork! Good luck to you on the new site!

It's a shame really. You'd think they would realize that if we don't make money, they don't either. I feel another globill tradgedy coming on.

Please do. I'll keep everyone posted as well.

It really does urk me though that I have to keep my join page up like that with codes that don't even work.

Actually, when I signed up with ccbill, I was processing within minutes. They gave me the codes, I tossed them up on my site, and that was that. It was instant. No wait time at all. That's why I find it odd that this is taking so long.

Main site was up and running with Paycom within 2 weeks ( from first contact to Visa OK ).

No problem so far.

We have no issues with Paycom at all. They rock for us. The complience thing can be a pain in the butt, but it's smooth sailing after that. Heather hit me up after you get set up over there. We're buying Paycom Approval Plus's if you're selling!!

Well first you probably should have followed up with them initially instead of waiting two months for them to get back to you. If you want something done sometimes you have to get up on people about it. Then there are certain things that need to be added to your join pages before Paycom will even send your pages to Visa, who has to approve them also. The Paycom compliance approval is usually pretty quick, but the Visa approval can take up to several weeks in my experience. After that you are usuallly good to go.

It was a MAJOR pain in my ass to get my Paycom set up, and it still is to this very day.

I argued with them for over a week because they wouldn't approve my site because when you clicked the join now button it would take you directly to my members area, due to the fact that the Product code wasn't activated, so by default it sent them there. But the Product code couldn't be activated until it passed Compliance and Compliance wouldn't pass it because the button didn't work... I swear I was talking to a brick wall. Finally the guy in Support understood what the problem was (Compliance people were the problem), mumble something about the people in compliance and just turn my stupid code on so compliance could go on with their life.

Paycom Support is awesome, but the people in Compliance are all on crack.

This is true, I probably should have followed up. Only thing I followed up on was to make sure the fax went through the contract.

I was told everything is compliant on my site and my account is being passed around to..whatever departments they send it to, and then they'll notify me when Visa approves me.

I just dont understand why they dont allow you to accept payments in the meantime with checks and credit cards (other then visa).

I like both sam and jenn alot, you have to understand that if they dont scrutinize your site and that if it were initially to get sent off to visa, visa will deny your ass, then you are back at stage 1.. So they are actually saving you time..

Alot of people in this business fail to see this logic, not surprising.

I don't mind them scrutinizing, but I do mind being told one thing and then having them do another. I was told from the guy at paycom, that if I got everything done asap that he'd get everything aproved for me before the end of the day yesterday. I even asked him if I would be able to process everything but visa while I wait. He said yes. That's really what makes me the most frustrated.

What are you saying about the market share with that statement? "Based in the US" .

Both are great business operations, but I would not conclude that Paycom is small or even "smaller."

You must have done something wrong if this is the case. I haven't heard of too many people having "real" issues with Paycom, expecially in light of recent processing woes.

well I don't know anything about them shutting down accounts but I do know that all the high risk 3rd party processors are being squeazed by the banks and by visa.

why keep the join links up? My site passed compliance and is now waiting for "management" to issue final approval. All this will the old CCBill button still on the site. It's been 2-3 days now since compliance got done with that. Glad to hear I'm not alone in waiting for "management." (echos of HBO's Carnivale.)

I DO have the Epoch links for customer support, and the epoch disclaimer on all join pages. THAT'S what compliance cares about.

I am very much looking forward to seeing what the conversion rate is when I switch over from CCBill. Everyone says it will improve.

I Had way more sign ups with iBill, sad to say. I have actually had potential members email me to tell me that they HATE paycom and can not join any sites that use them. That is a first for me, never had I had someone take the time to tell me that they can't join my site because of a certain processor. And I have had several since Paycom switch.

Only thing I'm waiting on now are the codes so that I can buy your cross sales.

Don't think I haven't forgotten about you. Just want to have everything in order first.

I said I had more sign ups, not chargebacks. I rarely get any chargebacks, so I would much prefer a processor that gives me more sign ups. I do this for the money, what do you do it for?

and last time i checked IBill was still here and they just put lots of money into my bank account today...

Update::

Well, im STILL waiting to be approved which is bad enough, but they still haven't made my account active so I can accept all other payemnts while I wait for the visa approval. The guy i've been dealing with over at pyacom says:

"I checked your Product Codes and I see that they have not been turned on. I do apologize
but at this point in time I can not do anything about the contract. Once I sign off on the
contract it is out of my hands. So again I do apologize."

What a load of crap. He specifically asked me to rush and get a new join page made and to add the codes so he can get it all approved before the end of the day (5 days ago). So I did as he asked and he never activated my account. Now he says it's out of his hands.

So far my experience with this company has been horrible.

I'm dragging my feet to get some more of my sites ready for paycom, their compliance requirements and timelines absolutely suck.

Well, if their service is always like this, I wouldn't expect much from them.

Don't expect much in terms of either responsiveness or common sense - I got switched over to them last summer when the Jettis thing went down. Not only didn't their "regular" people respond to problems that I had, but even after I was referred to a "top-notch" rep for my account, he never followed up on my problems; when I called him a second time, he didn't remember the first promise to follow-up, asked again for all my contact info and promised to get back to me ASAP. You can guess what happened (or didn't happen) next.
As far as compliance, there's no room for common sense at Epoch; I have a special situation that CCBill was able to understand, and their head of compliance worked with me to make sure everything went like clockwork. All Epoch could do was repeat the rules verbatim over and over again.
As far as actual billing, Epoch has been far worse for me than Jettis, CCBill or in the distant past, iBill ever had been - but as people will often tell you, on that one, your mileage may vary.
I'm now using CCBill as primary, and am very happy.
