blog rules.

What blogging software do you think the easiest to customize as far as look and feel go? They all use some sort of theme/template system (the major ones, anyway). I've found that it's difficult to find designers to do custom themes for blog software. I've even offered serious money, and it seems like designers aren't interested. There are tons of posts in blog software support forums wanting custom themes, and rarely does anyone take the jobs. Maybe it's because creating themes is a mix of graphic design and programming in most cases.

Editing the CSS is pretty easy, but doing things like adding a left column or splitting an existing column into two can be pretty hard with some blog software.

It's ok to grab a public domain theme and slap it on your site, but you'll look like 100 other sites..

Also, what do you think of these domain names?

blognudes.com
dailydirtblog.com
hardassblog.com
nudeartblog.com
nudesblog.com
openbsdblog.com
optimizeblog.com
ownedblog.com
psycheblog.com
scummyblog.com
serpsblog.com
sleazyblog.com
vbblog.com
vbdotnetblog.com
bigpimpblog.com
bigpimpinblog.com
gigoloblog.com
guidoblog.com
pimpinblog.com

I use b2Evolution for one of my sites. It's super easy to install and run, and has some unique features, like setting up multiple blogs, etc. Sort of like "sub-blogs" or blogs within a blog. However, it's a little limited in other areas. http://www.genitalhelp.com if anyone wants to see it. yeah - the domain name sucks :)

DarkJedi 01-16-2005 12:41 PM

I love ref spamming blongs :glugglug

AdultNex 01-16-2005 12:47 PM

IMO, MovableType is the best, not only because of the large support base, good spam/comment options, but because it is one of the few blog systems that automatically applies mod_rewrite to URLs (keyword-rich URLs at that, too).

Can I earn traffic from setting up a teen blog on blogger.com?

Can you find a niche within the teen genre? "Teen" is probably the most competetive genre in the adult industry - that or "amateur". It would be hard to be heard through all the noise.

TheMob 01-16-2005 02:14 PM

As far as easily customizing the templates and having a wide variety of templates to choose from i would have to say blogger. (probably 50k + templates available.) Movable Type is also good.

As far as designers, thats not hard to do, theres a guy on here who does them for between $175-225. You will need to have a clue when you get the design back to add things the way you want (the blog scripting). Or have someone in the know of blogs to do it for you.

The engines love blogger also (based on experience), as long as you set it up right.

what's the difference between a forum and a blog? Indexing?

mkx 01-27-2005 12:47 AM

Great thread indeed. Does anyone know of any third party blog builders that can be offered to users on a free hosting service?

Nicky 01-27-2005 12:59 AM

Awesome thread! :thumbsup

Do you think it can be possible to setup a Blog without any software, just a simple html page with tables and stuff and hand building each of the daily pages and linking them from the mainpage?

Why would you want to do more work? there's some no frills blog scripts coded in perl that can do the job for you... Just paste the text, click, and it will build a new page.

mkx 01-27-2005 01:57 AM

Well I have a free hosting site and I want to offer a free blog maker for my hosted accounts. Is there any provider for this kind of stuff?

mkx 01-27-2005 01:58 AM

Another Question,

I just signed up for blogger. Do they have problems with blog bloggers blogging adult oriented material or do they not give a crap?

A forum is a message board, where people (surfers) can sign up and become posting members to the boards. Just like this.

A blog is a weblog usually by one person OR one group. It is a static website that has numerous fields or varieties of constantly updated content...ie posts, other sites rss feeds, galleries..etc. NOW keep in mind that a blog can ALSO have differant members posting on it, and it can be sort of like a message board. BUT it is a completey seperate entity. Above (1st page) i pretty much define a blog for someone if this didnt help

Of course but why?

Set your blog prog up the way you like it (simple in your case) and let the prog do all your work.

THE WHOLE POINT of blogs was/is to make it easier for someone to put out there thoughts or whatever to the mass public via webpage.

The layman can make a top quality site with this tool and a little effort. IMAGINE what an experienced, seasoned internet business person can do. <----- That is exciting

JizBiz, my girl has recently engaged in a mainstream fashion blog and would like to gain exposure. What are some large mainstream blog directories / communities where she should look around for possible link trade partners and fellow fashion bloggers?

Thanks mate!
