Spamming is for bottom feeders.... we need to get rid of it in order to keep this industry somewhat reputable. I think this is a step in the right direction, programs need to let their affiliates know that spam will not be tolerated.

Reflected Networks was owned by Dustin Hamilton, same as the owner of the other companies named in the suit. The company, with Phil Dorff was in Chicago. Although they recently sold the company, Dustin and Phil were working together to clear off their servers of any suspect content. They were involved with and were aware of what was going on.

Earthlink and AOL go after spammers who send email into their systems (ie. [email protected])

If they did use earthlink resources (ie. proxies running on their network), then they would also get nailed for "digital trespassing" and other creative charges that are already on the books. Using telephone wires going across state lines is how it easily becomes a federal offense.

this is why I have turned down some very large mailers...if they can't guarantee can-spam compliance...I can't guarantee they'll be paid...

it's not about how I feel about mailers as much as how I feel about not having feds breaking down my door...

the feds will try whatever way they can to thin the herd...in this case, they apparently used can-spam...next time it'll be 2257, then models coming forward alledging they were forced to shoot porn...

I saw it in the telemarketing industry and it's going to happen in this industry...the only reason there weren't more arrests and such is September 11th and the war in Iraq was distracting everyone's attention...now we have a President in an unpopular war and other problems brewing and this is a nice diversion...

unsolicted advice to everyone: watch your shit very closely...use some of that money to hire good attorneys rather than living like rockstars...
