^R3K^, Za Ha and Thumbs, oh my...
Hey I also have been playing with creating thumbnail pages in PhotoShop. Why use a non-imaging program to make your thumbs?
I believe there is no better system to making thumbs, than a hardcore program like PhotoShop. It's taken me a while to get a pretty good system down, (and after my latest data transfer, I lost my actions) but maybe we could help each other with "tips and tricks" One of the first things I did was to make a series of recorded actions. I then played them against my image folder, and was able to resize, and thumnail about 1000 images with the click of a button. Then I went in and used the PhotoShop gallery maker program. Which is where things get tricky. Either post here, so others can see. (after all GFY is here so we can help each other) Or ICQ me. ------------------ BootyBone ![]() Is a BoneProne Family Member |

Interesting "webmaster post". I use PhotoShop to make thumbs too, but I didn't try to make actions yet. I was cutting just the "eye catching" area of the picture, like boobs, pussy, butt, eyes, face...
But the last galleries I made just resizing the pics. Jer ------------------ $40 per trial signup * $35 per privacy protection software sell |

Hi Jer.
![]() Actions are the key. What you do is open any porn pic and save it as test.jpg and put in an empty folder. If the test image isn't open, do it now. Then go into the actions menu, create a new "set" call it "image resize 425" (or what ever size images you use in your galleries) Now create a new "action" in the menu, and you will see that it starts recording. It will now record your every move. (so be careful.) Now go to the main file menu, and click on "automate" you will see a selection called "fit image" click it and set your image properties. I set mine to 425 x 425. Then hit ok. It basically fits your image so that the widest or highest dimension is 425. Notice, ,it will record this action. Now save it, and close it, and stop the record action. You have just made an action that will open, (even though you didn't record that step) resize (based on your settings), save, and close (very important) every image in a folder. When I get content for example from Garill. I download it all to one folder, then add a folder called resize. I then run all my new content thru that action, and resize all my images at once. You initiate the action by going back into "automate" and clicking batch. A new window opens, and you can select your new action that you just made, and select the source, and destination folders. When that is done. I make a similar action for thumbs, except I sharpen them twice, before I save and close. then I create a new thumbs folder, and run those same downloaded images thru the action to the thumb folder. ![]() After you create the one image resize, and the one thumbnail image the whole process literally takes as long as opening photoshop. You run and go have a bite to eat, as your computer processes all your content. Wow! that was a mouthful... ------------------ BootyBone ![]() Is a BoneProne Family Member |

How can I make Photoshop crop my full sized images and save them as a set size for my thumbs, using actions? (ex 125wx110h) I had this once in a txt file, but lost it in the dreaded hard drive crash of August '01 |

Steve do you want to split one image into a bunch of smaller images?
If you want to crop a series of images -- you just make an action using the canvas size feature... like if you have an image 800x600 -- you could do a canvas size to 500x500 which would crop your image into a square... then you could do an image size to 50x50 -- run that through an action -- might look kindof cool to have all square thumbs... ------------------ <A HREF="http://www.thefly.net/topfly.html" TARGET=_blank> ![]() |

That's a good way Pete. I had a gallery that unfortunatley I couldn't do that to, so what I did was just resized them down to 125 x 125 with the "fit image tool, then resized the canvas to 125 x 125.
It made the images square, but I didn't lose any image info. The only advantage was to be able to include the image width and height in the .html Otherwise, there is no real advantage. ------------------ BootyBone ![]() Is a BoneProne Family Member |

I'm not sure if what I think your asking is what you're trying to do but here you go... Either, A) Do what Pete said. or B) Create a new set of actions, and record this: Resize your images with the "fit image" tool, then resize the canvas, sharpen (twice) then save and close. Stop recording. Your initial image resize should be set so that all your images are at least 125w. ------------------ BootyBone ![]() Is a BoneProne Family Member |

nah, I'm not looking to resize the full image. What I want to do is this. I want to select a section (either top-center or mid-center) of a full size image, in a preset constrained aspect ratio (ex: maybe 125wx100h), and then I want to sharpen, and save as a thumbnail in a seperate folder.
I know this can be done, I had an action how-to written for me by Matt, but I lost the damn thing in a HD crash. I use SuperJPG to batch resize+compress. I've tried PhotoShop for this, but I honestly feel SuperJPG does it better. But the batch generating of select section thumbs is real fucking powerful and useful. I'd love to be able to do that again. |

Then I would record the action of either a canvas resize, (which doesn't affect the image, only the canvas) or record a crop.
Just set your dimensions, and the record will crop or canvas resize to those same dimensions every time. But let me ask you, you're making thumbs right? What if the image you're selecting doesn't have anything in it? Like maybe the sky? or a wall in the background? BTW, I just tested the action while using the crop method, and it works. I opened an image, then recorded myself cropping at these dimensions, I started at 100 pixels from left, and 30 pixels from the top: (100,30),(100,300) to (250,30),(250,300). I saved, and closed the cropped image, and checked against a gallery of 10 images, and it cropped them all exactly the same. They all started at 100px from top and 30px down. ------------------ BootyBone ![]() Is a BoneProne Family Member |

Thanks, from what this thread has here, I should be able to fuck around in PhotoShop and find a way to make it happen. This is for busting out a shitload of gallery pages, off of bulk, crap content. I did it last year, and the results were about 99% good. Not too many thumbs that were selections of background. And, since these are just going to be used to push my own traffic to sponsor hell, I'm not too concerned. I've decided to beat the fuck out of surfers, hold their fucking heads down in a pop up toilet until they wave their arms wildly and pull out their credit cards. I'm tired of their shit, and they are getting a fucking beat down. |

getting here now.. yeah i use photoshope and paintshop for my thumbs and my images. i have started doing that in the last 2 weeks because of a lot of the oldtimers influence, i have seen that the more time i put in a gallery the more rewards it offers.. (***DAMN DOG IS LICKING MY TOES***), not just in sales but in learning as well, you take a closer look at the content that you throw out there.. and why not the surfer is, if you can crop a image to get the special part of that pic that speaks to you it will say alot on a gallery.. Bake is one of my influences on galleries and he knows his shit so Bake If you have any pointers to give please do. like i said the more time you look at a gallery the more creaive you can be, it is all about flowing i think.. and the tease.. fucking make the horny and a of center thumb aint going to do it. hell take a look at CD's postr about tgps read it from a angle of what you are going up against.. 1000 galleries submitted a day you need something unique to stand out and make it say UHHHHH.. maybe it will impress the tgp reviewer and hopefully the surfer.. so bake you got anything to add?

Sure glad to help , There was a great artical writen buy Ken who is one of the great gallery builders. I think its gone now he must have taken it down. But it talked about croping your pics to make your thumbs. Try and make your thumbs tell some of the story or theme your trying to sell this can be very powerful way of selling.I mite spend a hour or more makeing 15 thumbs for one gallery I also lay them on a blank page page and then carefully sort them into the order I want. I use paintshop pro to make my thumbs and Steve on this thread showed me first how to make them that way. some say Im to fussy and crazy to spend that long on a gallery but my bank balance says diferent.I know when I get lazy and dont put the effort in my sales drop.
