I could tell you, but then I'd have to either
a) kill you
or
b) invoice you for consulting

i set some up years ago

threw some links up on the front page and added my links to the links section.....

and never touched them again

some are now up to about 3500 members....

i would say on average i pull in about $300-500 a month, and that is from doing absolutely NOTHING with them, i don't even look at them

i would imagine with the right promotion and babying they could be much more profitable

Do you think good "Google Groups" will make any money?

I know nothing about them, just noticed they opened up about a month ago.

You have nothing to lose by spending a few hours setting some up and setting up links and watch the traffic roll in

in their TOS they have a no advertising or spam policy

you can't even put advertising links on the front page of the groups

Just read their TOS carefully for a seconfd time and there's nothing about 'advertising' or 'spam' mentioned. There's somth. about disruptive advertising but that's completly diofferent story.

yes, you can put your link in the 'description' of the group, it's not clickable but I guess people know how to copy and paste

woah, they changed the TOS big time since they first opened

when they first opened it was clearly stated in the TOS that NO links to ANY form of advertisement or revenue generating material could be placed in the group by the group owner

My guess is they'll grow very slowly if they prohibit any form of advertising.

Yahoo has a not so nice tendency to delete groups without warning or notification...so dont spend too much time on them....

Yes please stay away from Yahoo groups. Anyone currently using yahoo groups stop! Please I impore you!

And yahoo does notify you if your group is about to be deleted. Usually it occurs of your group has no activity for 90 days. Then you get a warning and another 30 days. I guess if your group got deleted without notice you REALLY fucked up.
