well, yeah she could be kind and I don't think anyone is saying it wasn't a nice thing to do. However, I wonder how many rich people have given money and just kept it on the low.

rich people and famous people are two different things. If a charity receives a donation from a celebrity you can bet some way, some how a lot of people will hear about it. Just take a look at any of those entertainment news shows or website and you'll hear all about it.

Sometimes seeing or hearing celebrities doing something encourages people to do the same. I praise celebrities who use their status to help others in need.

I imagine plenty, and i think that's fine because nobody really cares of Joe Blow millionaire donates a million bucks. However, when a celebrity or public figure donates a lot of money, it tends to drive more donations from the general public and also seems to cause other celebs to do the same.

Making it public makes it more of a donation, it's almost like an advert for the charity receiving the funds.
