Ok guys..help me out with my new HD setup

So I just bought a new HD tv...nothing extremely special, but nice.

I have a ReplayTV that only has composite, coax, or s-video input (but does have component output). I am thinking of getting Comcast HD, but with the ReplayTV I won't be able to to use component or DVI.

So what do you think I should do for a setup?
  • S-Video from cable box to replaytv and then component to the tv
  • Coax from cable to replaytv and then component (or anything else) to the tv
  • Throw out the replaytv and go crazy because I am so used to pausing tv all the fucking time!
  • Or simply tell me what your best thoughts are!

Help with what brand of cables is greatly appreciated also.

Questions/comments/solutions/being an ass is all welcome!

And a very nice to you too!

Tech support? LOL! That is a good one. Since this is a webmaster board, everyone should know that all tech support sucks...they won't help you with suggestions on what will be the best.

I know there are many here with sweet hd setups and they know what the fuck is going on...just looking for there help.

Honestly, if it were me I would get DirecTV with the HD package (I think it's free for 6 months). I'd buy the Tivo/HD receiver ($999) for DirecTV and hook it up directly via HDMI.

Why DirecTV? I'm a sports freak, and love having all my NFL games in High Def every Sunday. I also love getting HD network channels for ABC, CBS, and NBC and ALSO getting both the west and east coast feeds for the networks. That really puts my Tivo to work on Thursdays where I can record tons of good programs (networks, cable, etc.) and get to choose between the 5:00 PM broadcast or 8:00 PM broadcast (I live on the west coast).

Just my two cents.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

I can't go DirectTV though. I live in an apartment complex and don't have access to the satelite (not facing NE or whatever it is). So I am stuck with Comcast cable.
