Although alot of what you said maybe true, you fucked up in a couple spots. #1 I have my own merchant account, and I do run several paysites, I lose less than 5% on processing. #2 Yes the first few months maybe a loss, but I DO have an assload of cash lying around, in my safe at home, in my bank accountS, in several offshore accounts, and I have alot of people that want to give me another assload of money to get something new started. #3 You have no idea how much extra moneey sponsor programs make for upselling their members services like phonesex, videos, DVD, toys, other member programs, selling email lists etc... When was the last time you peeped inside a TrafficCash Gold site? almost the whole membership section is an upsell to something else. Of course this effect rebill percent, and that is why these mega sites average member retentions at 1.85 months. The sooner they get em signed up on another site or program, the sooner they get to keep more money by not for example having to pay rebills. These guys have done the math, they make more money upselling their members to other services than trying to keep them for more than 2 months. So Hooper, and all you other Math proffesors, you can do the math on the numbers that are obvious (member rebills and initial sales) but you haven't got a clue what are all the correct variables are to do the math on. Yes you lose money at first, but you make a fuckload of cash later. Same with any of the handful of successful partner programs out there. Most of these guys lost 100's of thousands of dollars trying to get their programs working, but when they got a winner, they laughed at all the "naysayers" like you. I know of several people who have invested and lost over $100,000 only to have made 10x that back a year later with a revamped program. I have 3 DVD players by the way, but one of them broke. Need to replace it and circuit city is out. Don't like it? Drops in payouts, Hoop? The obvious solution is to start a feed company, pay $40 to any webmaster that sends a live feed customer, and then give them 50% of whatever the customer spends from there. Trust me on this....it's the latest stategy. You'll have people beating down your door....

So where's this money gonna come from in Month 2 when you can't pay the webmasters? This whole biz is based on a recurring business model, if you pay out $40 per signup, recur half the folks then you still need to keep them for 2 months just to pay for all the inial outlay, this is assuming you don't pay 50% on recurring. Then you pay 50% on recurring so you need to keep the customer 4 months. You run any paysites lately??? Know what recurring #'s are looking like? |
Upsells, and from money already in the bank, most "big" sponser programs take 6 months to a year to become profitable.

Why can't you see the math, I can payout 150% of the membership fees, and still make a million FROM THE DAMN UPSELLS IN THE MEMBER SECTION! Upsells to other sites, videos, dvd, phone sex, moms brownies, etc... Plus I can sell email lists, don't you ever wonder where all the spam you get about webmaster programs comes from? It didn't take us years to make money, we thought up an intelligent business model and executed. It's quite clear you've not run the numbers on the recurring model. Open up a program and we'll send you traffic, if you pay us weekly, because I'm sure after month 2 you'll be cash strapped and tapped out.
If you think there's "millions" to be made in the members areas I think you need to start listening to some people who run sites, all whom have posted in there advice for you. |

i wouldn't base a business strategy on "i could make a million dollars on upsells". It's not a solid investment, there for, it is a 50 / 50 wether you are going to pull through the heat or not.
