Ditching my CRTs for LCDs

I think LCD's look like shit comparison but my eyes cant take the strain anymore. The lines of resolution updating causing that fuzzy bluring is killing me. So I'm off to buy less vibrant LCD ....and their flat... bah the light on it...

I thought everyone was a sheep for buying LCD just because it was new and the man told you it looked better. And most of you still are but I'm curious if anyone switched for the eye strain problem alone?

I am going crazy myself trying to decide between a new 21" CRT and a 19" LCD
When I took a closer look LCD looks shitty for videos and moving images (read porn ;-)_
any other opinions here

I would not make the move. Yes they are sexy, skinny, cheaper then 2 year ago, but you will have to deal with dead pixels, shadow/ghost...

I'm also about to move to 3 LCD's...

Currently, dead pixel ratio very low compared to previous generation, make sure you test it at store and you can easily get one without any dead pixels.

For shadow/ghost, make sure to use DVI connection (of course you'll need DVI capable card & monitor), instead of 15 pin DSUB analog.

For movies, I would suggest getting 17" (equal to 19" CRT) instead of 19", because most of the current generation 17" monitors has lower than 20ms refresh which means you won't have any problems with videos...

I hope this helps

I really dont like the LCD that much. Mac has some really nice ones, and if I were going to get one, I would most likely get one of those.

Check them out before you buy anything.

When I changed to LCD a couple of years ago I actually found it worsened my eye problems. I have one of those "floaters" (like a small blob in your vision that moves just after your eye does) and it seemed to make it worse.

I switched back to a CRT because I was doing photo retouching work. With the LCD - even though it's a higher level pro model with DVI - I could never get the colours matched up perfectly.

Maybe you just need a better CRT monitor? The one I have now doesn't bother me...

i switched from crt to lcd about a year back and hesitated because of the quality downgrade.

So threw out my crt's and got my lcd's and for the first two weeks i wanted
to switch back to crt because my fears of bad image quality came true..

BUT.. after fine tuning videocard properties (specially brightness and colors) i must say theres not much difference between crt and lcd.. even
for cheaper models. just a matter of getting used to it..

I cant believe i used to spend 10 hours a day behind a crt if i use one now for 5 minutes.. hurts the eyes!!

Switching to LCD will not cure the eye strain problem, it has to do with your background lighting.
