Should I buy a Blackberry, or a Treo, or an Ipaq or????
Which PDA is the best in your opinion?
I was thinking I should get the cell phone/PDA combo so I don't have to carry two different things around with me. Anyone have a good way to check your stats on a PDA? (For instance would a proggie like stats remote work there?) I wanna buy one before years end to get the write off for this year.

It's email and 2way features are fantastic. The qwerty keyboard is easy to type on. What really sets the treo apart from the rest is the touch screen. I have a Blackberry collecting dust and I won't touch it. Why, because I don't feel comfortable with anything else after being spoiled with the big and bright touchscreen. Plus, web surfing is fantastic with a Treo using Sprint. 144kbs! It's a real 144kbs too. When I need to use my computer I plug it into my Treo and surf three times faster than diaup. Try that with your stinkin Blackberrys. Ha!

Oh yeah....we have our phone deal with AT&T wireless.....which is now also cingular....so I guess whatever I have to buy needs to be compatible with them.
Or do they make basically the same version for all the wireless companies?

i'm debating the SAME thing...i have att/cingular and these 3 are my finalists:
Motorola mpx220 Palm Treo 600 Blackberry 7290 but, i'm honestly considering just paying $30 a month and getting Tmobile Sidekick II...ALOT of good industry reviews on that one (mobile industry, not porn, lol) and it does "push" email, pop3, AOL/ICQ, web browsing, etc etc |

I will be honest and say that a Sidekick is cool for most folks. It's better than a Blackberry that's for sure. The difference between them and the treo is that Treo is the industrial strength version of the pda phone.
I don't know what other network speeds are like.

Only thing is how does the MS operating system for handhelds compare to the palm OS which seems to be the standard. Plus its $150 more than the Treo.....but it does look really sweet.

I tried fucking with a pda phone but I found it easier to keep the 2 things separate. And my advice, get the IPAQ! I have one and the fucking things kicks ass. I have no idea how I lived without it! It's really the only way I can keep on track and finish a job without drugs

All depends on who your service provider is.
If you have Sprint then the Treo 650 or the Audiovox PPC6601 will be your best bet. Treo runs on a Palm OS and the PPC6601 runs Windows Mobile 2003 SE. |

I could never figure out why people would need to surf the net from a phone or PDA. I have my desktop and my laptop and so far that is all I have never needed.
So who wants to explain why these things are so great? |

Here we go again...
Not going to tell you what to get but I'll give you my experience with the Blackberry. E-Mail - I've had the Blackberry 7510 through Nextel for about 8 months now. The main advantage to the Blackberry is that it is the ONLY DEVICE THAT CAN take advantage of PUSH E-MAIL technology (REAL TIME E-MAIL). Meaning you get e-mails instantly...no need to poll for them. If you'd rather use POP3 then the Blackberry automatically polls for e-mails every 10-15 min. You can customize your return address to your liking. In about a month you'll be able to e-mail JPEGS and other image formats. Currently you can view PDF, Excel, Word, TXT amongst other files with the standard Blackberry OS without any 3rd party programs. Web Browsing - You can do simple WAP browsing with a stock handheld. But 3rd party software is required for full blown HTML/JAVA etc. It looks just as good if not better than the Screen shot of that IPAQ. $27.95 for ReqWireles web browser. Organization - Like every other device the Blackberry seamlessly synchs with Outlook and Notes. It also includes a password keeper, Task Checklist, picture viewer. I also have E-OFFICE which is a full blown Office clone for the Blackberry. Try typing an e-mail on the IPAQ without having to buy the attatchable keyboard, or the Treo with its pin sized keys. The only advantages I see to the Treo or the IPAQ is that you get a cute little stylus, and viewing videos. The new Nextel 7520 has bluetooth...I'll be upgrading soon.

Anyone checkout www.oqo.com?
This thing looks badass. Full xp pro and only weighs 14 ounces. I know it is $2k and that is high but this is as powerful as a laptop but can fit in the palm of your hand. Any other devices like this out that anyone is aware of?

Unlocked = You can use your phone on any provider with a compatable network For obvious reasons most phone companies try not to sell unlocked phones. Sometimes they can't get around it though.
