J.K. Rowling Sends 6th "Harry Potter & Half-Blood Prince" to Book Publishing

"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling has made the announcement on her official website (the message can be found when you figure out how to open the door on the site) that book six, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," is completed and has been delivered to Rowling's English language publishers, who hope to announce the publication date within 24 hours.

Does Harry bang Hermione in this one? They've got to be like 30 or something by now.

Harry was a nice read at the start but he's getting pretty "worn out"

Perhaps but the way the kids are still buying it the real thing that is being worn out is the lining of her wallet.

Why are kids so fascinated with this book?

Is it like Peter Pan when I was growing up? I liked the dude because he could fly, but I didn't go nuts for him even then.

The kids buy it on hype nowdays. I've talked to people who's kids by it and skim read it just so they can tell their friends they have read it and know what happens and join in discussions about it

SWEEEEET!! I can't wait! I've read the other five and I couldn't put them down! Amazing writing, engaging characters, absolutely awesome storyline. I can see the appeal for kids, I know just as many adults who've read and enjoyed the series!

The last few books are hardly for kids. Each one keeps getting better and more sophisticated. I am a fan.

Can you summarize in like 3 sentences what happens in the most exciting one you've read yet?

I haven't read or seen anything captivating in years.

Great series. My daughter is a huge fan, and was on me for years to read them. I finally relented - and then read the first four books in two weeks.

Also such a great real-life story. The author being a somewhat down on her luck single mom, writing the first book on her spare time to entertain her kid. She is now the richest person in England.

Actually, in the novels, those who are against 'half-bloods' or 'mixed races' are the villians of the stories.

a sneetch is still a sneetch

no different than Seuss using Sneetches with the Star (jews)

separatism comes in many forms.

I understand what you're saying... but based on that logic (IMO), showing the existence of racism and then preaching unity would be construed as preaching seperatism and purity.

If you create a character that is 'different', and then portray those who treat that character badly as 'bad behaviour', how is that teaching purity?

Just a point of debate, btw. No hackles raising here.

I have never read or watched Harry Potter so I dont know the story.

My point was solely based on them saying "half-blood" ;)

hybrid, half-breed, half blood - all the same.

the point is, it puts negative points on one blood and positive points on the other.

the two halves make the whole, you dont separate then become proud.

your blood makes you, why is one half the blood less, or any different?

either way, it teaches that in fact, some blood is different.

off to get breakfast though, gotta run ;)

I hear you.

From an interview I read with Rowling, she apparently isn't a huge fan of the 'Royals Class system'.

My guess is that this is her way of taking a swipe at that.

Anyway, I have to go - have to buy some presents for my half-blood wife (half latin).

I can't wait
myself and my kids are huge fans...

with Order of the Phoenix, myself and my two older kids have done table readings where we sit around the table and read a chapter outloud and pass it around...they've become avid readers and it gives us time together with these characters we know and love.....

the series doe indeed get darker and darker....I can't wait to see how this next book turns out...

The last film (I haven't read the books) was very dark and if you have ever gone through a depression somewhat difficult to watch at times.
