Suprnova.org ends

Its torrent days are over

Quote:
Greetings everybody, As you have probably noticed, we have often had downtimes. This was because it was so hard to keep this site up! But now we are sorry to inform you all, that SuprNova is closing down for good in the way that we all know it. We do not know if SuprNova is going to return, but it is certainly not going to be hosting any more torrent links. We are very sorry for this, but there was no other way, we have tried everything. Thank you all that helped us, by donating mirrors or something else, by uploading and seeding files, by helping people out on IRC and on forum, by spreading the word about SuprNova.org. It is a sad day for all of us! Please visit SuprNova.org every once in a while to get the latest news on what is happening and if there is anything new to report on. As we wish to maintain the nice community that we created, we are keeping the forums and irc servers open. Thank you all and Goodbye! sloncek & the rest of the SuprNova Team

Suprnova was one of the best-- Obviously because their popularity spurred seeders, etc.

TorrentReactor sucks... Low seeder counts.

Anything think that the RIAA or MPAA could have been behind these attacks?

Who else? Maybe a fanatic or two, but not likely. The RIAA has openly stated they will use guerilla tactics to stop P2P.

Quite contraire. BitTorrent is an excellent way to move large files around regardless of access to a specific (or any) newsgroup(s).

Im not sure about that.

Exeem is a new file-sharing application being developed by the folks at SuprNova.org. Exeem is a decentralized BitTorrent network that basically makes everyone a Tracker. Individuals will share Torrents, and seed shared files to the network. At this time, details and the full potential of this project are being kept very quiet. However it appears this P2P application will completely replace SuprNova.org; no more web mirrors, no more bottle necks and no more slow downs.

Who said anything about illegal tactics?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/12...vs_bittorrent/

^ last tuesday.

We've been waiting to see how long it would last since that was published. It seems pretty obvious to me that they got served.
